Job summary

Overseas Technical Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd in Singapore seeks a Senior Civil & Structural Engineer to review and approve complex drawings and calculations for plants, storage terminals and oil & gas projects. Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Civil or Structural Engineering recognized by PEB or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant civil/structural experience in Plants, terminals or oil & gas.
• Proficiency with local and international codes and standards (BS 5950, EN 1997, AISC, ASCE).

Responsibilities

• Review/approve civil and structural documents, drawings and calculations for government approvals and construction support.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards, client specs and project quality procedures.
• Apply drawing checking procedures to verify accuracy and quality.
• Provide technical support to construction teams to resolve field issues.
• Perform structural design/analysis using relevant codes and software to ensure safe, compliant structures.
• Assist Lead Engineer in developing layouts, calculations and deliverables.
• Prepare drawings and sketches; coordinate with engineers, designers, and drafters to reflect design intent.
• Evaluate design options, document findings for Lead Engineer review.
• Supervise engineers, designers, and drafters to meet schedules/quality standards.
• Coordinate with ME, EE, instrumentation for integrated design and interface resolution.
• Identify/design discrepancies and constructability concerns collaboratively.
• Manage deliverables to meet project schedules and technical standards.

Job Summary

Support civil and structural engineering activities to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements in Plants, Storage Tank Terminals, or Oil & Gas sectors.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve civil and structural engineering documents, drawings, calculations, and technical submissions to secure government authority approval and support construction activities.
• Ensure engineering activities and deliverables comply with ISO standards, client specifications, project quality procedures, and relevant international and local codes.
• Apply established drawing checking and approval procedures to verify accuracy, completeness, and quality of engineering deliverables.
• Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams to resolve site-related engineering issues and ensure execution aligns with approved drawings and specifications.
• Perform structural design and analysis calculations using relevant design codes, engineering principles, and software to ensure safe and compliant structures.
• Assist the Lead Engineer in developing engineering layouts, design details, calculations, and other project deliverables.
• Prepare engineering drawings, design sketches, and technical details; coordinate with engineers, designers, and drafters to ensure accurate incorporation of design intent into project documentation.
• Evaluate alternative design options, conduct technical assessments, and document findings and recommendations for Lead Engineer review.
• Supervise and coordinate engineers, designers, and drafters to ensure timely completion of work meeting project requirements, schedules, and quality standards.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions and resolve interdisciplinary interface issues.
• Identify and resolve design discrepancies, technical issues, and constructability concerns collaboratively with the project team.
• Manage engineering deliverables to meet agreed project schedules and required technical and quality standards.

Required competencies and certifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an institution recognized by the Professional Engineers Board or BCA.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in civil and structural engineering within Plants, Storage Tank Terminals, or Oil & Gas Industry.
• Proficient knowledge of local and international codes and standards including BS 5950, Eurocode 7 (EN 1997), AISC, ASCE, and other relevant design standards.

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Familiarity with Singapore building regulations, local authority submission requirements, and applicable codes of practice.
• Extensive relevant experience suitable for consideration as a Senior Civil & Structural Engineer.
