Job summary

JobAlly is conducting a confidential search for an accomplished CEO / Managing Director to lead an established regional business through its next growth phase. This leadership mandate targets an entrepreneurial executive with deep experience in major international trading and Asian markets.

Reporting to shareholders, the CEO/MD will own the strategic direction, P&L and commercial growth of the business, with a mandate to identify new growth platforms and strengthen governance for the next stage

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience within a major international trading house or equivalent.
• Strong exposure to commodities, mining, metals, energy, or related sectors.
• Demonstrated regional leadership across Asia, including North and Southeast Asia.
• Proven track record of building businesses, developing new markets and partnerships.
• Experience engaging with boards, shareholders and senior stakeholders.

Job description

We are conducting a confidential search for an accomplished CEO / Managing Director to lead an established regional business through its next phase of growth and transformation.

This is a significant leadership mandate for a commercially driven and entrepreneurial executive who has built a strong career within a major international trading house and brings deep experience across Asian markets.

Reporting to shareholders, the CEO / Managing Director will have overall responsibility for the strategic direction, P&L, commercial growth and organisational performance of the business.

The mandate extends beyond managing the existing organisation. The successful executive will be expected to identify new growth platforms, evaluate strategic investments and M&A opportunities, develop partnerships and strengthen the organisation for its next stage of development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the overall strategy, P&L and commercial direction of the business
• Drive sustainable growth across key Asian markets and identify new business opportunities, partnerships and investment platforms
• Evaluate acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic investment opportunities
• Strengthen organisational capabilities, leadership depth and governance
• Drive business transformation, operational performance and financial discipline
• Develop and maintain senior-level relationships with customers, trading partners, financial institutions and key stakeholders
• Work closely with shareholders on strategic priorities, investments and long-term value creation.

The successful candidate will bring:

• Significant senior leadership experience gained within a major international or global trading house – essential
• Strong exposure to physical commodities, mining, natural resources, metals, energy or related sectors
• Demonstrated regional leadership and commercial experience across China, Korea, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia – essential
• Strong understanding of both North Asia and Southeast Asia, including the commercial environment, market dynamics and stakeholder landscape
• Proven experience leading a sizeable regional or international business with full P&L accountability
• Strong commercial instincts and a track record of building businesses, developing new markets and creating strategic partnerships
• Meaningful M&A, investment or corporate development experience is a plus
• More then 20 years of relevant professional experience, with substantial experience in senior executive and regional leadership positions
• Strong financial and investment acumen, with the ability to evaluate opportunities from both strategic and commercial perspectives
• An entrepreneurial and hands-on leadership approach, combined with the maturity and executive presence to engage effectively with boards, shareholders and senior stakeholders
• Experience and established business exposure in India would be an added advantage.
• Experience working within a family-owned or family-controlled business would also be highly advantageous, particularly for executives who understand how to work effectively with entrepreneurial shareholders while bringing the structure, governance and international perspective of a major trading organisation.
