Job summary

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) in Singapore seeks a senior leader to drive enterprise Data Governance, Data Risk, and Data Control, aligning with BCBS 239 and regulatory expectations.

You will build governance standards, lead programmes, mentor teams, and partner with risk, compliance, and business stakeholders to embed governance across the organization, including AI governance and risk frameworks.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of progressive experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Risk, or Process Engineering within banking or financial services.
• Demonstrated expertise in BCBS 239 regulatory requirements and large-scale transformation programmes.
• Strong knowledge of Data Governance frameworks, operating models, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams across multiple workstreams.
• Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide implementation and ongoing maturity of BCBS 239 governance, adoption roadmaps, and metrics.
• Define and enhance Data Governance, Data Risk, and Data Control standards with Enterprise Chief Data Office.
• Develop strategic roadmap for Data Governance initiatives and oversee delivery milestones.
• Build and develop high-performing Data Governance teams and foster accountability.
• Partner with business, technology, risk, and compliance to translate requirements into governance solutions.
• Drive AI Governance framework, model governance, risk management, and regulatory alignment.
• Establish governance KPIs and provide updates to executives and governance committees.
• Provide data-driven insights to support strategic decisions and transformation programmes.
