Job Summary
The Centre Leader develops strategic plans and structures to foster a culture of care, trust, mentoring, collaboration, and continuous learning. They manage and enhance Centre operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations while driving operational and programme excellence through governance, partnerships, curriculum, and pedagogy. The role models the Centre’s mission, vision, and values and oversees staff well-being.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implement initiatives that establish and sustain a collaborative culture within the Centre to enhance teamwork and staff engagement
- Review and optimize manpower plans to align with Centre goals and operational needs, ensuring efficient resource allocation
- Develop and execute strategies that promote mentoring, coaching, and capability development to improve staff skills and performance
- Drive capability development programs and coaching initiatives to elevate staff competencies and service quality
- Lead improvements in Centre systems, processes, and operations to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness
- Assess and ensure coherence of Centre initiatives, systems, and processes to support strategic priorities and continuous improvement
- Develop preventive and pre-emptive strategies to address challenges faced by teams and team leaders, minimizing disruptions
- Manage the Centre’s operational budget to support daily activities and resource allocation effectively
- Establish and lead strategic priorities, culture, and governance frameworks to drive programme and service excellence
- Implement plans and systems that foster a culture of continuous learning to support staff development and innovation
- Champion the Centre’s vision, mission, and core values to inspire staff and stakeholders toward shared goals
- Promote initiative and enterprise to drive innovation and continuous improvement within the Centre
- Lead the design and enhancement of quality teaching and learning approaches beyond the Centre level to improve educational outcomes
- Drive improvements in learning needs assessment processes and structures to better support children’s development
- Align children engagement strategies with Centre policies to ensure consistency and quality in learning experiences
- Develop and evaluate classroom management strategies based on leading practices to enhance learning environments
- Advocate and ensure adherence to health, safety, nutritional, and hygiene standards and procedures beyond the Centre level to safeguard children’s well-being
- Lead the development and adoption of new teaching methods, tools, and assistive technologies based on emerging sector trends to enhance learning delivery
- Foster a culture of collaboration by building and maintaining strong partnerships with families and community stakeholders to support holistic child development
- Strategically design and implement family and community programmes and initiatives to support Centre objectives and community engagement
- Model professionalism and effective communication when engaging with families and community partners to build trust and rapport
- Represent the Centre to build and sustain business relationships that support growth and development opportunities
- Establish mentoring structures and plans within the Cluster to uplift professional practice and knowledge sharing
- Drive professional development through training, workshops, and educational initiatives to improve service quality and staff capabilities
- Secure staff buy-in and alignment with the Centre’s vision, mission, and values to foster a unified and motivated workforce
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree in Early Childhood Studies or
- Diploma in Preschool Education Leadership (DPE-L), Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education - Leadership (DECCE-L), Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Centre Leadership (ADECL), or equivalent recognized by ECDA
- Valid first aid certificate recognized by ECDA
- LON L2 certification
- Minimum 5 years teaching experience in childcare or pre-school settings
- Minimum 5 years leadership experience in childcare or pre-school settings
- Ability to mentor and coach staff independently
- Competent in management skills relevant to Centre operations
- Proficient knowledge of SPARK 0 to 6 years framework, licensing regulations, Early Years Development, and Nurturing Early Learners framework
- Strong interpersonal skills to professionally engage with all internal and external stakeholders
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to maintain clear instructions, documentation, and reports
- Strong conflict resolution skills to manage interpersonal issues calmly and professionally
- Keen attention to detail in conducting checks, maintaining logs, and overseeing operations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Assertive yet fair interpersonal approach to leadership and team management
- In-depth understanding of security protocols, access control, and surveillance systems
- Ability to respond effectively to emergencies with quick decision-making and adherence to crisis management procedures
