Job summary

Broadcom Central Engineering is seeking a hands-on CAD tools engineer to provide development and support for tool flows at advanced process nodes. You will work closely with EDA vendors, PDK teams and process technology groups to deliver timely solutions, build productivity utilities, and train design engineers.

Qualified candidates will have 2+ years in EE/CS with strong programming, layout and verification skills, and experience with Calibre and Virtuoso Layout.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 2+ years of experience.
• Solid background in programming, layout and physical verification challenges.
• Familiarity with CAD tools (Calibre, Virtuoso Layout) and QA processes.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on daily support for design/layout issues.
• Develop, maintain and support utilities to improve productivity.
• Interact with EDA vendors, PDK development and process technology teams to provide timely solutions.
• Create documentation and provide hands-on training for design engineers as needed.
• Participate in all phases of CAD tools evaluation, QA, testing, release and user support.

Job description

Broadcom Central Engineering is looking for a qualified individual who can provide best-in-class development and support for CAD tool flows focused on advanced process nodes.

Responsibilities:

• This individual will be hands-on, heavily involved in day-to-day support of design/layout issues and develop, maintain, and support utilities to improve productivity.
• Hands-on, daily support for design/layout issues.
• Interact with EDA vendors, PDK development, and process technology teams to provide timely solutions.
• Develop, maintain, and support utilities to improve productivity.
• Create documentation and provide hands-on training for design engineers as needed.

Prior experience in several of the following areas is required:

• SKILL programming language to customize layout environments and develop productivity utilities.
• Creation and maintenance of CAD PDK environments (tool installations, layout environment customization, etc.).
• Exposure to EDA tools and flows for advanced chip design.
• Exposure to Physical Verification flows (DRC, LVS).
• Exposure to circuit simulation and tools.
• Experience with QA flows, creation of QA test cases, and development of QA infrastructure.
• Experience with AI tools for code generation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science plus 2+ years of experience.
• Solid background in programming skills, layout, and physical verification challenges.
• User-level familiarity with related CAD Tools (e.g., Calibre, Virtuoso Layout).
• Experience in all phases of CAD tools, including evaluation, QA, testing, release, user support, and documentation.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with strong multitasking abilities and attention to detail
