Job summary

NEWBRIDGE ALLIANCE PTE. LTD. is seeking a hands-on Backend Technical Lead to own the backend vision for a next-generation, real-time platform. You will anchor architecture, end-to-end delivery, and production reliability for a cloud-native system at scale.

You will collaborate with Product, Engineering and Infrastructure to drive high-availability, performance, and secure systems, mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives across teams.

• Hands-on Golang production-grade systems experience
• REST APIs design and complex system integrations

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve backend architecture, system design, and technical roadmap for a distributed, high-traffic platform
• Own end-to-end delivery of backend services from design to production ownership
• Build for high availability, performance, and security
• Champion engineering best practices through design reviews and code quality
• Architect and scale event-driven workflows for real-time operations
• Drive database performance, indexing strategy and cost optimization
• Lead production troubleshooting, incident management and root cause analysis
• Partner with DevOps to strengthen CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and reliability
• Mentor engineers and lead technical initiatives across teams

Job description

Our client is a large, established Singapore-headquartered group with a strong consumer and enterprise footprint. They are investing heavily in building a next-generation, large-scale connected platform that powers thousands of real-time, device-integrated transactions daily.

They are looking for a hands-on Backend Technical Lead to own the backend vision and engineering excellence for this fast-scaling platform. This is a high-impact, player-coach role at the intersection of software, IoT, and real-time systems.

The Role

You will be the technical anchor for the backend - driving architecture, end-to-end delivery, and operational maturity of a mission-critical, cloud-native platform. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to build resilient, high-performance systems at scale.

What You Will Own & Drive

• Define and evolve backend architecture, system design, and technical roadmap for a distributed, high-traffic platform
• Own end-to-end delivery of backend services - from design to deployment to production ownership
• Build for high availability, performance, and security
• Champion engineering best practices through design reviews, code quality, and pragmatic build-vs-scale decisions
• Architect and scale event-driven and asynchronous workflows for real-time operations
• Drive database performance, indexing strategy, and cost optimization
• Lead production troubleshooting, incident management and root cause analysis
• Partner with DevOps to strengthen CI/CD, observability, monitoring and reliability
• Mentor engineers and lead technical initiatives across teams

What You Will Bring

• Strong hands-on experience in Golang building production-grade systems; Java exposure is a plus
• Deep understanding of concurrency, performance profiling and optimization
• Proven experience designing scalable REST APIs and complex system-to-system integrations
• Strong SQL expertise with PostgreSQL or similar RDBMS
• Experience with event streaming systems like Kafka and real-time protocols like WebSockets / MQTT
• Experience debugging and operating production systems at scale
• Hands-on with cloud-native stacks - AWS or Azure , Docker, Kubernetes
• Solid grasp of distributed systems, scalability patterns and failure handling
• Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or similar) and observability tools (Datadog, Sentry etc.)
• Experience in high-throughput, real-time, or transaction-heavy platforms

Good to Have

• Exposure to IoT, connected devices, or mobility platforms
• Familiarity with industry-standard device communication protocols
• Experience with payment / billing workflows or distributed device-integrated systems
