Job summary

Newbridge is seeking a Backend Technical Lead in Singapore to own the backend vision for a fast-scaling, cloud-native platform. You will drive architecture, end-to-end delivery, and operational maturity for a high-traffic, real-time system, partnering with Product and Infrastructure teams.

You will champion engineering best practices, mentor engineers, and lead technical initiatives across teams, with hands-on Golang and strong distributed-systems experience in a scalable environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Golang expert building production-grade systems.
• Strong concurrency, profiling, and optimization skills.
• Experience designing scalable REST APIs and system integrations.
• Proficient SQL with PostgreSQL or similar.
• Experience with Kafka and real-time protocols WebSockets/MQTT.
• Experience operating production systems at scale.
• Cloud-native stack experience: AWS or Azure; Docker, Kubernetes.
• Familiar with IaC (Terraform) and observability tools (Datadog, Sentry).
• Experience in high-throughput, real-time platforms.

Our client is a large, established Singapore-headquartered group with a strong consumer and enterprise footprint. They are investing heavily in building a next-generation, large-scale connected platform that powers thousands of real-time, device-integrated transactions daily.

They are looking for a hands-on Backend Technical Lead to own the backend vision and engineering excellence for this fast-scaling platform. This is a high-impact, player-coach role at the intersection of software, IoT, and real-time systems.

The Role

You will be the technical anchor for the backend - driving architecture, end-to-end delivery, and operational maturity of a mission-critical, cloud-native platform. You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to build resilient, high-performance systems at scale.

What You Will Bring

• Strong hands-on experience in Golang building production-grade systems; Java exposure is a plus
• Deep understanding of concurrency, performance profiling and optimization
• Proven experience designing scalable REST APIs and complex system-to-system integrations
• Strong SQL expertise with PostgreSQL or similar RDBMS
• Experience with event streaming systems like Kafka and real-time protocols like WebSockets / MQTT
• Experience debugging and operating production systems at scale
• Hands-on with cloud-native stacks - AWS or Azure, Docker, Kubernetes
• Solid grasp of distributed systems, scalability patterns and failure handling
• Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives
• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or similar) and observability tools (Datadog, Sentry etc.)
• Experience in high-throughput, real-time, or transaction-heavy platforms

Good to Have

• Exposure to IoT, connected devices, or mobility platforms
• Familiarity with industry-standard device communication protocols
• Experience with payment / billing workflows or distributed device-integrated systems
