Job summary

Activate Interactive Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, build, deploy, and operate secure backend services supporting AI, ML, and generative AI for government digital services.

You will collaborate with product, policy, data, cybersecurity, DevOps, and platform teams; 1–2 years of backend experience, strong Python, API development, and familiarity with AI/ML libraries are required; this is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related IT field.
• 1–2 years of experience in AI engineering, machine learning engineering, data science, software engineering, or related roles.
• Hands-on experience developing backend services, APIs, integrations, or components that support AI-enabled, enterprise, or government digital services.
• Strong programming experience in Python with API development and AI/ML libraries.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement backend services that support ML, generative AI, and other intelligent digital services for government use cases.
• Translate business, policy, and operational requirements into solution designs, technical specifications, and implementation plans.
• Build and maintain backend services for model pipelines, prompt workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, APIs, integrations, and evaluation scripts.
• Conduct model and solution testing for accuracy, reliability, safety, and bias.
• Support responsible AI controls, including guardrails, audit logs, and access controls.
• Collaborate with DevOps, cybersecurity, data, and platform teams to deploy AI solutions securely in government environments.
