Job summary

NETS in Singapore seeks a Senior Cloud Operations Lead to guide a team of cloud engineers and drive the cloud strategy across payments and financial services.

You will own incident management, DR, backup and security collaborations; implement IaC via Terraform and CloudFormation; ensure MAS TRM compliance; and lead postmortems and RCA. Requires 10+ years IT ops, 5+ in AWS, 3+ in leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in IT operations; 5+ years in AWS or similar cloud ops (Azure/GCP).
• 3+ years in a leadership/CloudOps team lead role.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of cloud engineers and guide issue resolutions.
• Partner with Cloud CoE, security and application teams to align cloud strategy.
• Own operational frameworks including incident response, monitoring, patching, backup, DR and compliance.
• Lead major incident management and RCA for critical cloud events.
• Develop deployable cloud design patterns based on the application portfolio.
• Demonstrate research-backed decisions with multiple options and rationale.
• Maintain knowledge on latest cloud trends and technology.
• Ensure MAS TRM and enterprise security compliance.
• Lead cloud security operations with security teams.
• Drive IaC and automation via Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Define HA and DR design patterns for applications.
• Conduct deep-dives, operational reviews and postmortems.

Responsibilities

• Lead of team of cloud engineers and provide guidance on issues resolutions
• Partner with Cloud CoE, security and application teams to align operations with cloud strategy
• Apply expert-level knowledge of cloud-native services (compute, storage, networking, databases, containers, serverless and security)
• Own and evolve operational frameworks including incident response, monitoring, patching, backup, disaster recovery and compliance
• Lead major incident management and root cause analysis (RCA) for critical cloud events
• Develop a library of deployable and documented cloud design patterns, based on the organisation application portfolio, as a basis for deploying services to the cloud
• Demonstrate leadership ability to back decisions with research and the “why” and articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, and a recommendation.
• Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends and technology.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security and regulatory frameworks (MAS TRM)
• Lead cloud security operations in collaboration with security teams.
• Drive automation-first operations through Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Define optimal design patterns and solutions for high availability and disaster recovery for applications.
• Conduct technical deep dives, operational reviews and incident postmortems
• Oversee patch management, vulnerability remediation, IAM governance and policy enforcement

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT operations, with at least 5+ years in AWS or similar cloud operations (Azure, GCP), preferably within the payment or financial services industry
• Minimum 3+ years in a leadership or team lead role managing L2/L3 or CloudOps teams
• Possess practical expertise in AWS service such as experience in designing and developing platform components or monitoring tools in AWS or any of the cloud computing platforms

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong knowledge on AWS architecture and design, professional level certification is mandatory
• Cloud Expert with proven contributions in Amazon AWS
• Proven experience leading incident management, DR, backup/recovery and performance operations at scale
• Ability to carry out industry trends and competitor product/solution analysis effectively
• Good expertise in programming- able to develop and demonstrate technologies in PoC
• Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends
• Experience in configuring and tuning cloud-hosted solutions and platforms
• Good knowledge of DevSecOps tool chains and processes
• Strong communication skills and able to articulate complicated cloud reports to management team and other stakeholders
• Hands-on proficiency in IaC and automation tools
