Job summary

STMICROELECTRONICS PTE LTD in Singapore is seeking an Automation Software Engineer to develop and support software for automation, data acquisition, process control, and equipment integration in a high-volume semiconductor environment.

You’ll work with equipment, process, production, quality and DTIT teams to improve tool uptime, stability, yield, and overall performance through software development, testing, and deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related technical field.
• 1–3 years in software development, automation, or semiconductor support.
• Strong programming skills in Python, C#, C++, Java or similar.
• Familiarity with PLCs, MES, SECS/GEM, databases and equipment interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize automation and equipment control software for semiconductor systems.
• Support integration of production tools, sensors, databases, MES, and host systems.
• Monitor, debug, and troubleshoot automation software to ensure stable operation.
• Analyze process and equipment data to identify abnormalities and improve performance.
• Contribute to equipment qualification, software validation, and deployment of upgrades.
• Document software logic, interfaces, change records, and operating procedures.
• Support continuous improvement focused on yield, cycle time, quality, reliability, cost and safety.

Your role

As an Automation Software Engineer , you will develop and support software solutions that enable automation, data acquisition, process control, and equipment integration in a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. You will work closely with equipment engineering, process engineering, production, quality, and DTIT teams to improve tool uptime (e.g. ALTS, SAM Machines, DAP/DAS, CPS etc), process stability, traceability, yield, and overall tool performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop, maintain, and optimize automation and equipment control software for (DAP/DAS, ALTS, SAM Machines etc) semiconductor manufacturing systems.
• Support integration of production tools, test equipment, sensors, databases, MES, and factory host systems.
• Monitor, debug, and troubleshoot automation software, interfaces, and manufacturing applications to ensure stable operation.
• Analyze process and equipment data to identify abnormalities, improve performance, and support root-cause analysis.
• Contribute to equipment qualification (User Acceptance Testing), software validation, and deployment of new automation solutions or upgrades.
• Document software logic, interface specifications, change records, and operating procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, cycle time, quality, reliability, cost, and safety.

Your skills and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
• 1-3 years of experience in software development, automation, industrial control systems, or semiconductor manufacturing support.
• Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, C#, C++ , Java , or similar.
• Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing systems such as PLCs, MES, SECS/GEM , databases, and equipment interfaces is a strong advantage.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and perform root-cause analysis CAPA .
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering and production functions.
• Ability to work in a structured, fast-paced cleanroom environment.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to grow technically in a semiconductor manufacturing setting.
• Internship, project, or hands-on experience in semiconductor automation or test software is an advantage.
• Build and maintain customized dashboards and reports to monitor system health, throughput, and utilization
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft office suite
