Job description

Role Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Developer to design, build and support equipment interfaces and reusable solution components for a wafer fabrication environment. The role sits at the intersection of manufacturing equipment, shop-floor data acquisition and enterprise applications - connecting process tools and sensors to downstream analytics and process-control platforms.

The successful candidate will develop and maintain data collection interfaces, integration services and configurable solution modules, working closely with process engineers, equipment engineers and manufacturing IT teams to deliver stable, high-throughput and production-grade software.

Key Responsibilities
Interface Development & Integration
  • Design, develop, test and deploy interfaces between process equipment, sensors and shop-floor applications using standard semiconductor communication protocols.
  • Implement and maintain equipment connectivity based on SEMI standards (SECS-I / HSMS, SECS-II, GEM, and equipment data acquisition standards such as Interface A / EDA).
  • Build integration services to exchange context, event and trace data with MES, scheduling, recipe management, FDC/SPC and reporting systems via REST/SOAP APIs, message queues and database interfaces.
  • Develop and tune high-volume, low-latency data collection pipelines for time-series sensor and trace data, ensuring completeness, accuracy and traceability.
  • Handle protocol translation and normalization across heterogeneous tool types, vendors and generations of equipment.
Solution Component Development
  • Develop reusable solution components, configurable modules, plug-ins and libraries that can be templated and rolled out across multiple tool sets and fab areas.
  • Implement data models, parsers, calculation and derivation logic, rule configuration and alarming components per functional specifications.
  • Build supporting utilities: configuration tools, bulk-setup scripts, migration tools, monitoring dashboards and health-check services.
  • Contribute to platform architecture discussions on scalability, high availability, failover and disaster recovery for 24x7 fab operations.
Deployment, Testing & Support
  • Prepare and execute unit, integration, performance and regression test plans; support UAT and production qualification activities.
  • Perform tool-by-tool onboarding: connectivity validation, data mapping verification, signal/parameter validation and cutover to production.
  • Provide L2/L3 production support, root-cause analysis and defect resolution for interface and component issues, including on-call or shift support as required.
  • Manage change control, version control and release documentation in line with fab change management procedures.
Collaboration & Documentation
  • Work with equipment engineering, process engineering, automation and IT infrastructure teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical designs.
  • Produce and maintain technical design documents, interface specifications, data dictionaries, deployment runbooks and support handover material.
  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers on connectivity capabilities, data availability, parameter definitions and firmware/software dependencies.
  • Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of development standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on software development experience, with a meaningful portion in manufacturing, industrial automation or semiconductor environments.
  • Strong programming proficiency in one or more of: C# / .NET, Python.
  • Solid working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL); able to write and optimize queries, stored procedures and schema designs for large datasets.
  • Experience developing system-to-system integrations using REST/JSON, XML, web services, sockets/TCP-IP, file-based interfaces or messaging middleware.
  • Experience working on Windows and/or Linux server environments, including scripting, scheduling and service deployment.
  • Ability to debug complex, distributed, multi-threaded applications and analyze logs, network traces and performance bottlenecks.
  • Strong analytical thinking, structured problem solving and attention to data quality.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; able to work with engineers who are not software specialists.
Preferred / Advantageous Experience
  • Direct experience with semiconductor process equipment - etch, deposition (CVD/PVD/ALD), photolithography, diffusion/furnace, implant, CMP, wet clean, metrology or inspection tools.
  • Practical experience implementing SEMI standards: E4, E5, E30 (GEM), E37 (HSMS), E39/E87/E90/E94 (300mm object models), E120, E125, E132, E134, E164 (EDA / Interface A).
  • Experience with equipment connectivity toolkits, host software and equipment simulators for offline development and testing.
  • Understanding of statistical concepts and signal/trace data processing (feature extraction, windowing, summary statistics, limit-based rules).
  • Front-end development skills (Angular/React/JavaScript) for configuration and visualization interfaces.
  • Prior experience supporting 24x7 high-volume manufacturing operations with strict uptime and change-control requirements.
Competencies
  • Ownership - takes end-to-end responsibility from design through to production stabilization.
  • Rigour - disciplined about testing, documentation and change control in a high-cost, high-risk production environment.
  • Collaboration - works effectively across engineering, operations and IT boundaries.
  • Adaptability - comfortable with legacy tool constraints, vendor-specific quirks and evolving requirements.
  • Continuous learning - keen to build depth in semiconductor manufacturing processes and smart-manufacturing technology.
