Job summary

Forefront Medical Investment Pte Ltd is seeking an Electrical/Automation Engineer to design electrical systems, wire controls, and program PLC/HMI for PoC setups and test stations in a regulated environment.

You will collaborate with R&D and manufacturing to assess feasibility, refine concepts, and support DFMEA/PFMEA inputs while staying current with sensors, vision systems, robotics, and control architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechatronics, automation engineering, or related field.
• 1–3 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, custom machine building, or R&D prototyping.
• Experience in medical devices or regulated industries is a plus.

Job Description:

1. Perform electrical design, controls wiring, and programming (including robotic integration and signal interfacing to build functional proof-of-concept (POC) setups and test stations.
2. Write and debug PLC, HMI, or motion control programs for concept validation and early-stage equipment.
3. Collaborate with R&D process, and manufacturing teams to evaluate automation feasibility, identify risks, and refine concepts.
4. Support design reviews, DFMEA/PFMEA inputs related to automation, and technical discussions with suppliers.
5. Stay current with automation technologies, sensors, vision systems, robotics, and control architectures.

Job Requirement:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field
• 1 - 3 years of hands-on-experience in industrial automation, custom machine building, or R&D prototyping (experience in medical devices or regulated industries is a plus
• 3D CAD: Proficiency in 3D CAD software for generating layout and station concepts.
• Electrical & Controls: Demonstrated ability to perform electrical connections and wiring control panels, sensors, actuators, safety devices and I/O systems.
• Pneumatics & Sensors: Knowledge of selecting standard automation, components (Festo, SMC, Keyence, Cognex, Omron).
• Strong problem-solving mindset.
• Celar communication skills for technical reporting.
• Collaborative spirit to work across production team and suppliers.
