Job summary

B&W Engineering is seeking an Associate Director, Electrical Engineering to lead the design and delivery of mission-critical data centre electrical systems across Southeast Asia. You will drive technical excellence, influence client outcomes, and shape the future of data centre engineering.

This strategic role requires building high-performing teams, leading client engagements, and ensuring compliant, resilient designs (N+1, 2N, 2N+1).

Qualifications

• PE Singapore registration is preferred or required depending on scope/sign-off responsibilities.
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience with consultancies, design firms or data centre/telco projects.
• Familiarity with Singapore codes and EMA requirements and international standards (IEC, IEEE, TIA-942).
• Membership with professional bodies such as IES is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of mission-critical electrical systems including HV/LV distribution and UPS.
• Oversee end-to-end electrical design and system architecture for large-scale projects.
• Define and uphold engineering standards, frameworks and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership on resilience strategies (N+1, 2N, 2N+1).
• Lead client engagements and deliver strategic advisory on electrical design and optimisation.
• Manage multiple project teams across concept to commissioning lifecycle.
• Drive value engineering and risk mitigation in electrical solutions.
• Build trusted relationships with hyperscalers, telcos and developers.
• Champion BIM and digital engineering; explore liquid-cooled, air-cooled and hybrid systems.
• Support regional business growth and act as a thought leader in data centre electrical engineering.

At B&W Engineering, we deliver world-class mission-critical infrastructure that powers the digital economy. As an Associate Director, Electrical Engineering, you will lead the design and delivery of complex data centre electrical systems across high-profile regional projects.

This is a strategic leadership role where you will drive technical excellence, influence client outcomes, and shape the future of data centre engineering across Southeast Asia.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Leadership & Strategy

• Lead the design of mission-critical electrical systems, including:
• HV and LV distribution systems
• UPS and critical backup systems
• Generators and emergency power infrastructure
• Oversee system architecture across end-to-end electrical design ("two-end systems")
• Define and uphold engineering standards, frameworks, and best practices
• Provide technical leadership on resilience strategies (N+1, 2N, 2N+1)
• Drive master planning and utility interface design, including HV integration
• Act as the technical authority across multiple large-scale projects
• Lead client engagements and provide strategic advisory on electrical design and optimisation
• Manage multiple project teams across the full project lifecycle (concept to commissioning)
• Drive: Value engineering, Risk mitigation strategies, Key technical decision-making
• Build trusted relationships with clients including hyperscalers, telco operators, and developers

Regional Influence & Business Growth

• Support business development and contribute to winning new work across Singapore and the region
• Represent B&W as a thought leader in data centre electrical engineering
• Leverage regional and global project experience to strengthen client offerings

Team Leadership & Capability Building

• Lead, mentor, and develop senior engineers and technical specialists
• Build a scalable, high-performing electrical engineering capability
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence

Innovation & Digital Engineering

• Champion digital engineering tools such as BIM and advanced analytics
• Drive adoption of emerging technologies, including: Liquid-cooled, air-cooled, and hybrid data centre systems
• Renewable energy integration
• Energy storage and smart grid solutions

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENT

• Professional Engineer (PE) – Singapore registration (preferred or required depending on scope/sign-off responsibilities)
• More than 10 years' experience in electrical engineering with consultancies, design firms, data centre operators and/or telco infrastructure projects,
• Registered with the Professional Engineers Board (PEB), Singapore (highly regarded)
• Familiarity with Singapore codes and standards (e.g., SS standards, EMA requirements)
• Strong knowledge of international standards (IEC, IEEE, TIA-942)
• Membership with relevant bodies (e.g., IES – Institution of Engineers Singapore) preferred
