Job summary

Johnson Controls in Singapore is seeking an Assistant Service Engineer (Industrial Refrigeration) to perform service, preventive maintenance, commissioning, and repair on Johnson Controls and third-party refrigeration systems. You will travel to customer sites across Singapore and occasionally within the region, work with subcontractors, and uphold safety and quality standards.

The role requires basic refrigeration/HVAC knowledge, problem-solving, and customer-focused communication; on-the-job

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of refrigeration, HVAC, or mechanical systems.
• Basic knowledge of screw, centrifugal, and reciprocating compressors.
• Basic electrical and controls knowledge.
• ASHRAE standards (preferred).
• Refrigerant handling and safe work practices (preferred).
• Health, safety, and safe work practices.
• PC skills - MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Email.
• Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
• Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out service, preventive maintenance, commissioning, overhaul, troubleshooting, installation, warranty repair, and other specialist activities on Johnson Controls and third-party industrial refrigeration systems.
• Ensure service work is completed efficiently while minimizing repeat visits and warranty costs.
• Identify potential service, repair, upgrade, and modernization opportunities and communicate them to the relevant stakeholders.
• Support and coordinate subcontractors working on behalf of Johnson Controls.
• Maintain service vehicle and any other tools in good condition.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to support customer retention and identify service opportunities.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all work sites, including contractors and third-party personnel.
• Participate in an after-hours standby and emergency response roster as required.
• Perform all service activities in compliance with company safety policies, customer requirements, and local regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement safe work practices before commencing work.
• Generate accurate and timely service reports, including findings, corrective actions, recommendations, and follow-up requirements.
• Utilize digital service management systems, mobile applications, and reporting tools to document service activities.
• Investigate equipment failures and support root-cause analysis to improve reliability and customer uptime.
• Support senior engineers in providing technical recommendations to customers regarding equipment reliability, performance, and maintenance requirements.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites across Singapore and occasionally within the region when required.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by management consistent with the role.

What you will do:
