Assistant Project Manager (HDB / Building Construction)

Location: Jurong, Singapore
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: Up to S$8,000 per month, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications

Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Assistant Project Managers to support the planning, coordination and successful delivery of building construction projects.

The successful candidates will oversee project schedules, technical coordination, site operations, regulatory requirements, consultants, subcontractors and project resources to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with required quality standards.

Candidates with relevant HDB project experience will have an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Management

• Plan, coordinate and execute construction projects to meet project timelines, budgets and quality requirements.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules and resource requirements.
• Monitor project progress and identify critical activities requiring follow-up or corrective action.
• Manage changes to project scope, schedule and costs using appropriate project management controls.
• Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Prepare weekly project updates and reports for management.

Technical & Design Coordination

• Coordinate architectural, structural and M&E requirements across the project.
• Review and resolve technical and site issues with consultants, contractors and internal project teams.
• Coordinate the timely issuance of design drawings and technical information from consultants.
• Review and track shop drawings, technical submissions and material submissions.
• Ensure drawings and submissions from contractors, vendors and suppliers are accurate and meet project requirements.
• Support the development and implementation of appropriate architectural, structural and M&E detailing standards.

Site & Construction Management

• Oversee site operations and coordinate with project teams, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Monitor construction progress, workmanship and quality.
• Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Support site teams in resolving construction and coordination issues.
• Monitor resource allocation and manpower requirements to support project schedules.
• Promote compliance with applicable workplace safety and health requirements.

Authority & Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
• Track authority submissions, approvals and clearances in accordance with project schedules.
• Ensure timely approval of drawings, materials and technical submissions.
• Attend project and coordination meetings where required.

Commercial & Tender Support

• Support the Quantity Surveying team during tender exercises.
• Assist in reviewing and evaluating tenders and technical specifications.
• Coordinate with relevant stakeholders on technical and commercial project requirements.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Building or a related discipline.
• Relevant qualifications recognised by applicable professional institutions or regulatory bodies in Singapore will be advantageous.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the building construction industry.
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience in building construction projects.
• Experience in HDB or similar large-scale residential building projects will be an advantage.
• CPAS accreditation at Tier A or Tier A-Star, where applicable to the role, will be an advantage.
• Strong technical knowledge of structural, architectural, finishing and/or M&E works.
• Good understanding of construction methods, project coordination and regulatory requirements.
• Strong organisational and project management skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management abilities.
• Able to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
