Job summary

FUJI OIL (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced engineer to oversee daily Fractionation Plant operations and drive efficiency, safety and reliability.

The role involves monitoring processes, troubleshooting issues, planning maintenance, and collaborating with multiple departments to meet quality and cost objectives. The ideal candidate brings a bachelor's degree in chemical/process engineering and at least 5 years of experience in edible oils or fats refining, with strong PLC/DCS

Responsibilities

• Assist Production Manager in overseeing daily Fractionation Plant operations to ensure safe, efficient production.
• Monitor and optimise production processes for quality, yield and cost objectives.
• Troubleshoot process abnormalities and equipment issues and implement corrective actions.
• Plan preventive maintenance, plant shutdowns, commissioning and turnaround activities to minimise disruptions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, QA and other departments for smooth operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and energy efficiency.
• Support plant automation and DCS/PLC upgrade projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environment and food safety standards.
• Support audits and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Supervise and mentor production personnel to maintain standards and performance.
• Analyse production data and report to management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist the Production Manager in overseeing daily Fractionation Plant operations to ensure safe, efficient and uninterrupted production.
• Monitor and optimise production processes to achieve operational efficiency, product quality, yield and cost objectives.
• Troubleshoot process abnormalities, equipment malfunctions and operational issues, and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance, plant shutdowns, equipment commissioning and turnaround activities to minimise production disruptions.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality Assurance and other departments to ensure smooth plant operations.
• Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, plant reliability, energy efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Support plant automation, instrumentation and process control system improvement projects, including PLC/DCS upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety, environmental, food safety and quality management standards.
• Support internal and external audits and implement necessary corrective and preventive actions.
• Supervise, guide and provide technical support to production personnel to maintain operational standards and improve team performance.
• Monitor production performance indicators, analyse operational data and prepare reports for management.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Process Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in chemical process manufacturing, specifically in edible oils and fats refining industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of fractionation, distillation, separation processes and industrial process equipment.
• Hands-on experience in 24-hour continuous plant operations, including process troubleshooting, production optimization and operational problem-solving.
• Proven experience in coordinating preventive maintenance, plant shutdowns, equipment commissioning and plant improvement projects.
• Good knowledge of PLC/DCS process control systems and their applications in industrial manufacturing operations.
• Familiarity with workplace safety requirements and safe plant operating practices.
• Knowledge of quality, environmental and food safety management systems, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FSSC 22000 or HACCP.
• Demonstrated experience in process optimization, operational efficiency improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
• Experience in supervising, coordinating or providing technical leadership to production teams in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills.
• Able to work independently, manage operational priorities and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Additional Advantages

• Experience in fractionation or refining processes involving vegetable oils, fats or their derivatives.
• Experience in PLC/DCS system upgrades, plant automation or process improvement projects.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
