Job summary

Samsung Southeast Asia & Oceania in Singapore is seeking a local sourcing champion to lead supplier discovery, evaluation, and promotion to internal stakeholders. This Individual Contributor role partners with HQ, regional offices and global factories to ensure compliance and drive AVL onboarding.

You will coordinate with R&D, Quality and Procurement, assess suppliers' capabilities, and advocate for Singapore-based firms with strong engineering capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Business/Engineering.
• Experience in strategic sourcing, supplier development or technology NPI.
• Proven ability to drive cross-functional alignment (R&D, Quality, Procurement).
• Familiarity with electronics components and manufacturing tech is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Lead local supplier discovery and evaluation in Singapore.
• Promote qualified suppliers to internal stakeholders and AVL onboarding.

You will lead the local potential supplier discovery, evaluation and promotion of potential suppliers to internal stakeholders. You will act as Program lead during the development process while ensuring the procurement compliance policies and regulations of respective countries. To achieve this objective, you will have to work closely with internal stakeholders from HQ, regional offices and global factories. This is an Individual Contributor role.

Role And Responsibilities

• Supplier Discovery
• Identify potential Singapore base companies capable of supplying to consumer electronics industry
• Buildup of potential supplier pool database to enhance local sourcing
• Supplier Evaluation
• Evaluate potential suppliers capabilities against internal benchmarks to assess suitabilities
• Support the evaluation of suppliers based on Samsung’s global procurement strategy
• Technology Assessment
• Evaluate technological readiness and niche capabilities of potential local companies (e.g. advanced manufacturing, precision engineering, materials, sensors etc.)
• Assess and identify opportunities for development and test bedding of innovative solutions projects between our internal engineer teams and potential suppliers
• Internal Advocacy & Driving Project Adoptions
• Act as the primary advocate for qualified Singapore-based companies, actively promoting their capabilities and value propositions to internal stakeholders (R&D, NPI, and Global Procurement).
• Bridge the gap between local potential companies and internal teams by facilitating technical discussions, pilot projects, and factory audits.
• Overcome internal resistance by building strong business cases for local suppliers, ensuring they are successfully integrated into the Approved Vendor List (AVL)

Skills And Qualifications

• Degree in Business/Engineering (Electronics/Electrial/Mechanical).
• Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier development, procurement or technology NPI, preferably within the consumer electronics or high tech manufacturing industries
• Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, with a proven track record of driving cross functional alignment (R&D, Quality and Procurement)
• Strong ability to evaluate electronics components, manufacturing technologies and engineering capabilities.
• Familiarity with Singapore’s manufacturing ecosystems and technologies capabilities landscape is a plus
• Experience or knowledge in SAP and Tableau is a plusUse of computer & tools like MS Office, with advance skills in MS Excel & Power Point Presentation. A team player with good interpersonal and Communication Skills (Written, Verbal and presentation)
