Job summary

SRM1 PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking an experienced Assistant Head Chef to support the Head Chef in daily operations of our authentic Indian restaurant. You will oversee kitchen routines, supervise staff, and ensure high standards of food quality, hygiene, and consistency while managing service during peak hours.

The role requires 3+ years in a similar position, deep knowledge of North and South Indian cuisines, and strong leadership with a focus on cost control.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in Assistant Head Chef or senior chef role in an authentic Indian restaurant.
• Strong knowledge of North and South Indian dishes, tandoor, curries, biryani and breads.
• Ability to supervise kitchen staff and coordinate during busy service.
• Solid understanding of food hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety.
• Experience with inventory control and managing food costs is advantageous.
• Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Positive attitude, teamwork, reliability and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in managing day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes to restaurant standards.
• Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation.
• Supervise chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff during service.
• Assist in training junior kitchen staff.
• Maintain food safety and cleanliness across the kitchen.
• Manage inventory, stock rotation, and receiving of supplies.
• Help minimise food wastage and control kitchen costs.
• Take charge in Head Chef's absence.
