Job summary

NAT TRUST LABORATORY PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks a detail-oriented Laboratory Quality Assistant to maintain QMS records, handle customer inquiries, and assist in audits and certifications.

You will perform mechanical and chemical testing on steel products, collect samples, and support continuous improvement of lab processes with safety and accuracy as priorities. The role requires a diploma or equivalent, familiarity with QC/lab testing, and proficiency in MS Office.

Qualifications

• Diploma qualification or equivalent.
• Previous experience in QC/lab testing preferred.
• Experience operating laboratory or material testing equipment is an added advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office applications.
• Able to work in a heavy metal industrial environment.
• Good communication skills, responsible attitude, and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Class 3 driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain QMS records and quality-related documentation, including posting test data, preparing MTCs, maintaining test records, and supporting customer technical enquiries.
• Support customer meetings and assist in handling quality-related enquiries and complaints. Participate in investigation of quality issues, root-cause analysis, and follow-up of CAPA.
• Assist in the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits, including ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, and other applicable quality or laboratory requirements.
• Support product certification activities for ACRS, SIRIM, UK CARES, and other applicable certification schemes.
• Assist in reviewing and updating SOPs, Risk Assessments, work instructions, and safety-related documentation.
• Perform mechanical & chemical testing of steel products, record test results and prepare test reports accurately.
• Visit customer or external sites when required to collect testing samples and ensure traceability.
• Support the development and implementation of laboratory procedures and workflow improvements.
• Perform other laboratory, quality, documentation, and operational duties as required.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• QMS Data & Documentation
  Maintain QMS records and quality-related documentation, including posting test data, preparing Mill Test Certificates (MTCs), maintaining test records, and supporting customer technical enquiries. Ensure all records are accurate, complete, and properly filed.
• Customer Support & Quality Follow-Up
  Support customer meetings and assist in handling quality-related enquiries and complaints. Participate in investigation of quality issues, root-cause analysis, and follow-up of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Audit Support
  Assist in the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits, including ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, and other applicable quality or laboratory requirements. Prepare relevant records and follow up on audit findings when required.
• Product Certification Support
  Support product certification activities for ACRS, SIRIM, UK CARES, and other applicable certification schemes. Maintain certification records and assist in updating documents when standards, specifications, or certification requirements are revised.
• SOP, Risk Assessment & Safety
  Assist in reviewing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Risk Assessments (RAs), work instructions, and safety-related documentation. Participate in laboratory safety and continuous improvement activities.
• Laboratory Testing & Reporting
  Perform mechanical & chemical testing of steel products, including tensile, yield strength, elongation, bend, rebend, and other required tests in accordance with applicable standards and procedures. Record test results and prepare test reports accurately.
• Sample Collection & Coordination
  Visit customer or external sites when required to collect testing samples. Ensure samples are properly identified, recorded, handled, and traceable throughout the testing process.
• Laboratory Process Improvement
  Support the development and implementation of simple laboratory procedures and workflow improvements to reduce processing time, improve testing efficiency, and maintain the required level of quality and accuracy.
• General Laboratory Support
  Perform other laboratory, quality, documentation, and operational duties assigned by the supervisor or laboratory management as required.

Qualification & Requirements

• Diploma qualification or equivalent.
• Previous experience in Quality Control (QC), laboratory testing, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in operating laboratory or material testing equipment will be an added advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office applications.
• Able to work in a heavy metal industrial environment, including areas that may be hot and noisy.
• Good communication skills, responsible attitude, and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Class 3 driving licence preferred.
