Job summary

NatSteel Holdings Pte Ltd in Singapore seeks an Accreditation Laboratory Engineer to support testing, data analysis, and reporting, ensuring compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and accreditation requirements. You will maintain QA documentation, assist audits, and provide technical support to customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Class 3 driving licence.
  • Experience in a testing laboratory environment, preferably with mechanical testing of construction materials.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and accreditation requirements.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
  • Strong data analysis and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Tabulate, verify, and analyse laboratory testing data
  • Prepare accurate test reports for customers according to standards
  • Review results and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and traceability
  • Act as an authorised signatory for test reports and verify before issue
  • Maintain records of testing activities and documentation
  • Review and update ISO/IEC 17025 documentation and quality management system
  • Ensure procedures, forms, and records are up-to-date
  • Support internal and external audits and continuous improvement
  • Communicate with customers and provide technical support
  • Develop and implement testing protocols for new activities

About the role

The Accreditation Laboratory Engineer will be responsible for supporting laboratory testing, data analysis, technical reporting, quality management, accreditation compliance, customer technical support, and laboratory operations. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring that laboratory activities are conducted accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable standards and accreditation requirements.

Key responsibilities
  • Tabulate, verify, and analyse laboratory testing data
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive test reports for customers in accordance with applicable standards and laboratory procedures
  • Review test results and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and traceability of all reported data
  • Act as an authorised signatory for laboratory test reports and verify reports before they are issued to customers
  • Maintain proper records of testing activities, results, and related documentation
  • Review, maintain, and update the laboratory's ISO/IEC 17025 documentation and quality management system
  • Ensure laboratory procedures, work instructions, forms, and records are updated whenever necessary
  • Support internal audits, external audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities
  • Communicate with customers and provide technical support and advice on laboratory testing and quality-related matters
  • Develop and implement testing protocols and procedures for new testing activities
About you
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Class 3 Driving Licence is required
  • Relevant experience in a testing laboratory environment, preferably involving mechanical testing of reinforcement bars, wire mesh, couplers, or other construction materials
  • Good understanding of ISO/IEC 17025, laboratory quality management systems, and accreditation requirements
  • Good technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Good analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyse laboratory testing data
  • Proficient in laboratory equipment operation and relevant computer/software systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team
  • Responsible, organised, and able to complete assigned tasks within the required deadlines
  • Good attention to detail, particularly in data verification, technical documentation, and reporting
