Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) invites applications for an Assistant Director, Office of Admissions. You will support the Director in developing and implementing admissions strategy and oversee end-to-end admissions operations to ensure fair, data-driven processes and excellent service.

Leading the admissions team, you will drive outreach, scholarship administration, and stakeholder engagement, while continuously improving systems and governance to achieve enrolment

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience in student admissions or enrolment management.
  • Tertiary qualification required.
  • Proven experience leading teams and managing complex operations.
  • Experience with process improvements, systems implementation or project management is advantageous.

Job description

The Assistant Director, Office of Admissions, supports the Director in developing and implementing the University’s admissions strategy while ensuring efficient, fair, and student-centric admissions operations. The role is responsible for leading admissions processes, outreach initiatives, scholarship administration, systems enhancement, and stakeholder engagement to achieve the University’s enrolment objectives. The Assistant Director also leads and develops the admissions team, driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and service quality.

(Reporting to: Director, Office of Admissions)

What You Will Do
1. Admissions Strategy & Planning
  • Support the Director in formulating and executing admissions strategies aligned with the University’s strategic priorities and enrolment objectives.
  • Analyse admissions trends, market developments, and performance metrics to recommend strategic improvements.
  • Drive continuous enhancement of admissions policies, processes, and service delivery through data-driven insights.
  • Monitor admissions performance and recommend initiatives to improve recruitment outcomes and operational effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement outreach programmes and recruitment initiatives to attract high-quality prospective students.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with schools, educational institutions, government agencies, and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the University at education fairs, school engagements, webinars, public talks, and recruitment events locally and internationally.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to strengthen the University’s brand and student recruitment efforts.
3. Admissions Operations & Governance
  • Lead the end-to-end admissions process, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, fairness, and compliance with University policies.
  • Serve as Secretariat for admissions committees and oversee admissions governance processes.
  • Review admissions frameworks and recommend enhancements to support evolving institutional requirements.
  • Lead the AI-enhancement and optimisation of admissions systems and digital workflows to improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures and ensure consistent implementation across the admissions team.
  • Manage the evaluation and recommendation process for University, donor, and MOE scholarships.
  • Oversee scholarship allocation, budget utilisation, and reporting.
  • Support the Director in reviewing scholarship strategies to strengthen student recruitment and talent attraction.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the admissions team to achieve departmental objectives and service excellence.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing, and customer-focused work environment.
  • Manage staff performance, capability development, and succession planning.
  • Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the team.
6. Stakeholder Management
  • Build effective working relationships with academic units, administrative departments, and external partners.
  • Provide professional advice and recommendations on admissions matters to internal stakeholders.
  • Support institutional initiatives and cross-functional projects related to student recruitment and enrolment management.
What We Are Looking For
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in student admissions, enrolment management, higher education administration, student recruitment, business development, or partnership management, with a tertiary qualification.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and managing complex operational functions.
  • Experience in process improvement, systems implementation, and project management is advantageous.
  • In-depth understanding of admissions operations and governance.
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and people management abilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and sound judgement.
  • Proficient in data analysis and Microsoft Office applications; experience with admissions or CRM systems is an advantage.
