Job summary

MINDEF seeks a data science lead to supervise a small team and enhance strategic communications through data-driven insights. You will study audiences and defence issues, guiding policy and planning across internal and public communications, and community engagement.

You will lead development of the communications data architecture and explain complex findings to decision makers, while aligning with MINDEF/SAF's information environment and organizational considerations.

Qualifications

• Education in mathematics, economics, statistics, CS, psychometrics or OR.
• At least 6 years in data science, analytics or communications.
• 2+ years in a supervisory capacity.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent presentation and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

Job description

What the role is:

You lead and supervise a small team to leverage data science methods and techniques to enhance MINDEF/SAF's strategic communications.

What you will be working on:

• Supervise the derivation of data-driven insights and recommendations
• Study MINDEF/SAF's audiences and defence-related issues with integration of social science insights
• Guide MINDEF/SAF's strategic communications strategy, policy and planning across public and internal communications, and community engagement
• Lead the team to develop and maintain the communications data architecture to support analysis and decision-making

• Explaining complex data and technical findings to strategic communications practitioners and decision makers
• Understanding MINDEF/SAF's organisational considerations and the intricacies of the information environment that MINDEF/SAF operates in

What we are looking for:

• Education in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Psychometrics, Operational Research, or a related field
• At least 6 years of relevant work experience in a data science, analytics or communications role, with at least 2 years is in a supervisory capacity
• Possess necessary technical knowledge and familiarity with analysis methods, data management, programming languages and visualisation software
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
