Job Purpose
Expand creative programs to enhance residents' well-being Introduce innovative craft training for Social Enterprise projects.
Elevate the Association's public profile through exhibitions, partnerships, and community engagement initiatives.
A). Direct Work
1) Rehabilitation Activities
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct group art sessions (drawing, painting, crafts, outreach).
- Facilitate skill-building in coloring, drawing, painting and simple crafts (eg. coaster making, soap making).
- Collaborate with external stakeholders (volunteers, schools)in session planning and resident selection.
- Showcase residents' artworks at art events to promote inclusion and visibility.
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams (Welfare Home Staff, SAMH Staff) to ensure holistic psychiatric rehabilitation.
- Conduct quality control of artworks and crafts before exhibition or Social Enterprise (SE) display.
2) Social Enterprise (SE)
- Research, resource and train residents to create sellable crafts for SE project.
- Collaborate with Business Coordinator (BC) on product packaging.
- Motivate and guide residents in SE product creation; refer suitable candidates for retail training.
- Partner with Business Coordinator to liaise with external agencies for new product ideas (eg. eco-friendly crafts with schools).
- Review product marketability and maintain quality standards.
- Assist Business Coordinator in providing retail work training.
3) Project Management
- Liaise with centers/external agencies (eg. Creative Services) to showcase residents' artwork.
- Collaborate with schools on art-related projects fo residents.
- Manage wood work projects: resident selection, instructor job orders, material purchasing and scope of work.
- Handle financial tasks: invoicing for framing work, calculating monthly payments for craft instructors.
4) Event Management
- Coordinate 5 annual resident events (Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, National Day, Deepavali and Christmas).
- Work closely with Program Coordinators to organize events, performances, and volunteer participation.
B). Administration
- Maintain accurate documentation such as attendance list, progress reports, weekly submissions.
- Compile monthly statistics, Pelangi Collective and other required reports.
- Draft administrative reports, proposals and correspondence with agencies.
- Calculate freelance craft instructor salaries monthly.
- Develop proactive service initiatives.
- Calculate residents' allowances for SE products (eg. frame making).
C). Talks and Training
- Provide art-related talks and training for SAMH staff; extend to external audiences after 1 year.
- Train volunteers and interns to conduct art sessions with residents.
D). Operations
- Support daily operations such as incident reporting, crisis management, resident logistics, contingency planning.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to coordinate events/programs (eg. festive celebrations).
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Reporting Officer/Management, including tasks beyond normal work schedule.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Diploma.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and resilience to serve mental health population.
- Proficient in MS Office, Adobe Illustrator, PhotoShop, InDesign and Canva.
- Experience working in Social Service Agencies will be an added advantage.
