Job summary

Personnel Link JobHub Pte. Ltd. in Singapore is seeking a hands-on Automation Engineer to design and implement control architectures for fully automated manufacturing systems.

You will select components such as PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, and safety devices, and ensure compliance with safety standards. The role involves developing electrical control drawings, programming PLCs/HMIs, and integrating robotics, vision, and laser systems into lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline related to automation/manufacturing.
• Experience with PLC/HMI programming and motion control.
• Familiarity with EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus TCP/IP and OPC UA.
• Experience in electrical control system design and machine commissioning is preferred.
• Knowledge of robotics, vision systems, or Industry 4.0 applications is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand automation project requirements.
• Design machine control architectures and select automation components (PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, safety devices).
• Create electrical control layouts, wiring schematics, and drawings using CAD tools.
• Develop, test, and validate PLC, HMI, and motion control software per IEC 61131-3.
• Implement machine safety systems in compliance with ISO 12100/13849/IEC standards.
• Support integration of robots, vision, laser, barcode/RFID systems into production lines.

Job description

• Work together with internal stakeholders (Business Development, Quality, Production and Maintenance) and external stakeholders (customers, suppliers and contractors) to understand project requirements & support automation projects.
• Assist in design of machine control architectures for fully automated manufacturing systems and select appropriate automation components, including PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, safety devices, sensors, industrial networks and electrical control hardware.
• Design electrical control systems, control panel layouts, wiring schematics and electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or equivalent CAD software.
• Develop, program, test and validate PLC, HMI and motion control software in accordance with IEC 61131-3 standards to meet machine functional, operational and safety requirements.
• Assist in implementation of machine safety systems, including safety PLCs, safety relays, emergency stop circuits, guard interlocks and safety functions in compliance with ISO 12100, ISO 13849, IEC62061 and IEC 60204-1.
• Support the integration of industrial robots, vision systems, laser systems, barcode readers, RFID systems, servo systems and third-party equipment into automated production lines.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Design Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Knowledge of PLC and HMI programming, motion control systems, and industrial automation.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus TCP/IP, and OPC UA.
• Experience in electrical control system design and machine commissioning is preferred.
• Knowledge of robotics, vision systems, laser systems, or Industry 4.0 applications will be an advantage.
• Programming skills in Python, C#, C/C++, or similar languages will be an added advantage.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work across functions.
• Prior experience in manufacturing, plastics injection molding, or automation projects will be advantageous.
• Location: Jurong | Mondays to Fridays (8:30am to 5:45pm)
• Monthly salary x 13 + Variable Bonus. Monthly salary will commensurate according to experiences
