Job summary

WOLA RECRUITMENT PTE. LTD. is seeking a Software Engineer to develop, support and continuously improve machine-control software used in advanced automation and semiconductor equipment in Singapore.

The successful candidate will work closely with Electrical, Mechanical and Applications teams to design new software functions, integrate hardware and software, troubleshoot issues and improve overall machine performance and usability. Strong problem-solving and communication skills required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills in a Windows environment.
• Experience in PC-based control software development.
• Understanding of object-oriented software design and development methodologies.
• Basic knowledge of real-time control systems and database technologies.
• Experience developing software for industrial automation, semiconductor equipment or similar systems is advantageous.
• Knowledge of machine-vision systems and SECS/GEM is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Able to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance software for automated equipment and machine-control applications.
• Provide software support and continuous improvement for existing equipment platforms.
• Develop new software functions based on equipment, project and customer requirements.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot software-related issues during machine integration, commissioning and field operation.
• Review and maintain software requirements, technical documentation and operating procedures.
• Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical and Applications teams to integrate new hardware and software functionality.
• Support the integration of motion-control, machine-vision and other equipment subsystems.
• Develop and improve software tools and utilities that simplify machine setup, diagnostics and operation.
• Participate in equipment testing, debugging, verification and continuous improvement activities.
• Support technical investigation and root-cause analysis for equipment software issues.

About the Role

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++ within a Windows environment.
• Experience in PC-based control software development.
• Understanding of object-oriented software design and development methodologies.
• Basic knowledge of real-time control systems and database technologies.
• Experience developing software for industrial automation, semiconductor equipment, precision machinery or similar systems would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of machine-vision systems, motion control or equipment communication standards such as SECS/GEM would be advantageous.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
