Job summary

QUESS SELECTION & SERVICES PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced Application Engineer to support, maintain, and optimize enterprise applications and database platforms, ensuring availability, performance, and reliability across critical systems.

You will analyze requirements, implement solutions, manage databases, automate tasks with Linux shells, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-quality technology solutions aligned with business needs.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in application support or software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports, including triggers, built-ins, libraries, and runtime configuration.
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL (Application Development Framework).
• Strong PostgreSQL programming skills, including stored procedures, functions, database schema design, and performance tuning.
• Experience supporting or modernising legacy Oracle applications and integrating them with newer platforms.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• The Application Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise applications and database platforms to ensure system availability, performance, and reliability. The role involves application support, database administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and high-quality technology solutions that meet business and operational requirements.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate functional specifications into technical solutions, following established development and engineering best practices.
• Install, configure, maintain, and support enterprise applications and database environments.
• Administer, monitor, and optimize relational and NoSQL databases to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
• Perform database administration activities, including installation, configuration, backup, recovery, replication, patching, and performance tuning.
• Investigate application and database incidents, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and perform preventive maintenance.
• Monitor application and database performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend optimization improvements.
• Develop and maintain Shell scripts to automate routine administrative and operational tasks in Linux environments.
• Execute unit testing, integration testing, system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and support production deployments.
• Implement approved configuration changes to application software, databases, and related documentation while maintaining configuration management standards.
• Prepare and maintain up-to-date technical documentation, operational procedures, system configurations, and support guides.
• Ensure applications and database environments comply with organizational security policies, database security standards, and operational best practices.
• Support production systems by resolving incidents, managing service requests, and participating in root cause analysis for recurring issues.
• Work closely with Technical Leads, Database Administrators, Infrastructure Engineers, Business Analysts, and application teams to deliver reliable enterprise solutions.
• Participate in requirements gathering, technical discussions, and solution design reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams during application implementation, upgrades, migrations, and production support.
• Participate in peer reviews and knowledge-sharing initiatives to improve engineering quality and operational excellence.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance application stability, performance, and operational efficiency.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 10+ years of experience in application support or software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in Oracle Forms and Oracle Reports, including form triggers, built-ins, libraries, and runtime configuration.
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL (Application Development Framework).
