Job summary

A*STAR RESEARCH ENTITIES in Singapore seeks an AI/ML research engineer to develop models and agent modules for advanced inspection systems. You will train, validate and evaluate models using sensor data, simulations and experiments, translating partner needs into end-to-end solutions linking data acquisition, hardware, inference and decision-making.

You will support experimental setups, calibration and data acquisition, assist hardware integration with cameras, sensors, and edge devices, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, Robotics or related field.
• Strong AI/ML foundation with model training, evaluation, and practical implementation.
• Proficient in Python with AI/ML applications in coursework, projects, internships or research.
• Solid software development fundamentals including version control and maintainable code.
• Basic understanding of hardware-software integration (sensors, edge devices, experimental setups).
• Self-motivated, analytical and able to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI/ML models and agent modules; train, validate and evaluate models using sensor data, simulations and experiments.
• Translate partner needs into end-to-end inspection solutions linking data acquisition, hardware, inference and decision-making.
• Support experimental setup, calibration, data acquisition and hardware troubleshooting.
• Assist hardware-software integration with cameras, illumination, sensors, motion stages and edge devices.
• Prototype and test AI solutions, progressing concepts toward deployment.
• Collaborate across simulation, knowledge storage, hardware integration and validation teams.
• Document research findings, model performance and validation results.
