Job summary

A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research in Singapore is seeking a Research Engineer to join the Optics and Imaging Systems (OIS) Group. This role involves developing AI-driven image recognition applications for various industrial sectors including semiconductor and biomedical manufacturing.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with engineers and researchers to enhance the Group’s capabilities in AI and computer vision. Responsibilities include developing maintainable software systems and integrating various imaging technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in any Engineering discipline.
• Proficiency in C++, Python; experience with CUDA, JS, HTML or C# advantageous.
• Good understanding of object-oriented programming and software architecture.
• Understanding of machine learning and deep learning concepts.
• Experience with AI frameworks and deployment tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI-based image recognition and computer vision modules for inspection applications.
• Ensure maintainable, modular, and reusable code using object-oriented practices.
• Integrate AI models for object detection, segmentation, and defect detection.
• Work with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and industry partners.
