Job description

Specialist Risk Group (SRG) is a people and culture-led specialist insurance intermediary, backed by world-renowned investors Temasek and Warburg Pincus. We focus on areas of insurance where deep expertise matters most, delivering tailored solutions for complex and often underserved risks across Asia and internationally. Our teams combine strong market knowledge of our region with access to the wider capabilities of the Group internationally.

At SRG, we are building a business we are proud of, defined by specialist thinking, collaboration and a commitment to doing difficult things well. Our approach is deliberately personal and hands-on, shaped by people who understand their markets and take responsibility for delivering the right outcomes.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Specialist Risk Group is seeking an organised and detail-oriented Accountant, Accounts Receivable & Credit Control, who is responsible for the end-to-end management of receipts, cash allocation, customer account reconciliation, collections and credit control in a specialist insurance brokerage environment.

The role safeguards the accuracy and recoverability of receivables by ensuring incoming funds are identified and allocated promptly, overdue balances are actively followed up, and discrepancies are resolved with clear ownership and audit trails.

ABOUT YOU

You are a reliable finance professional who is comfortable working with numbers, deadlines and multiple stakeholders. You take pride in maintaining accurate records, resolving discrepancies promptly and supporting the wider business with clear and professional communication.

Your expertise in accounts receivable, credit control, reconciliation and financial administration will help ensure that client and insurer balances are well managed, queries are handled efficiently and finance processes are delivered with accuracy and care.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The key responsibilities for this role are:

1) Insurance Funds & Inter-account Transfers
  • Identify and allocate daily receipts in the fiduciary system.
  • Process inter-bank transfers between fiduciary bank accounts where necessary.
  • Tabulate commission amounts to support transfers from fiduciary bank accounts to the Office account, prepare transfers in the banking portal and complete the related accounting entries.
  • Process adjustments for identified "Direct Payment to Insurer" or "Pay Direct" transactions and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Prepare customer refunds, where approved and applicable, and process the related accounting entries.
2) Credit Control & Collections
  • Own the receivables ageing and collection cycle, including regular review of outstanding balances, prioritisation of collection activity and follow-up with customers and internal account owners.
  • Generate and distribute statements of account, collection reminders and dunning letters in line with agreed timelines and escalation protocols.
  • Maintain accurate collection notes, commitments to pay, dispute status and next actions; elevate long-outstanding, high-value or disputed items to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Partner with broking and servicing teams to drive timely collection while maintaining professional customer relationships and supporting commercial objectives.
  • Provide regular reporting on overdue receivables, collection progress, disputed balances, unallocated cash and emerging credit risks.
3) Billing & Account Discrepancy Resolution
  • Work closely with the billing team to resolve differences between receipts and invoices or debit notes, including incorrect references, duplicate or missing documents, currency or amount differences, and allocation issues.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and investigate variances across invoices, debit notes, credit adjustments, receipts and policy records.
  • Coordinate corrections and supporting documentation with the billing team. The role validates and facilitates resolution but does not raise bills.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and internal stakeholders to close queries and prevent recurring discrepancies.
4) Reconciliations, Month-end & Controls
  • Complete bank-to-ledger and accounts receivable reconciliations, investigate reconciling items and ensure timely clearance.
  • Support month-end close through receivables schedules, ageing analysis, cash allocation cut-off, refund and transfer records, and relevant journal entries.
  • Maintain complete, accurate and audit-ready documentation for receipts, allocations, collections, adjustments, refunds and transfers.
  • Adhere to delegated authorities, segregation of duties, internal controls and applicable regulatory and company requirements.
  • Support internal and external audit requests and contribute to process improvements that strengthen control, efficiency and visibility.
5) Treasury & Other Finance Support
  • Coordinate fixed deposit placements, renewals and withdrawals as approved; update the fixed deposit schedule and prepare the monthly interest journal.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and support periodic verification and reconciliation.
  • Provide cover and reasonable support for other finance activities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of relevant finance or accounts receivable and credit control experience, preferably within insurance, insurance brokerage, financial services or a professional services environment.
  • Good understanding of accounts receivable processes, billing, receipting, collections, reconciliations and month-end closing activities.
  • Experience working with accounting or ERP systems and handling high-volume transactions will be advantageous.
Skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy when working with financial data and tight deadlines.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and confidence in preparing reconciliations, schedules and reports.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to follow up on outstanding items and resolve queries tactfully.
  • Organised, proactive and able to prioritise competing tasks while maintaining a strong sense of ownership.
  • Collaborative team player who can work effectively with finance, broking, operations and external stakeholders.
