Job summary

HSBC Life is seeking a Specialist, Credit Control to manage credit control, recoveries and related correspondence for an assigned portfolio. You will handle regulatory reporting, operational support and stakeholder coordination across channel partners and internal HSBC Life teams.

The role requires experience in credit control, finance or audit, strong Excel skills, and a proactive, analytical mindset in a dynamic environment. Hybrid collaboration and cross-department engagement are expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Account handling for queries, recoveries and correspondence with channel partners.
  • Produce MAS debtor ageing reports and calculate provisions for bad debts.
  • Respond to operational queries within agreed timelines to enable client servicing.
  • Maintain regular communication with channel partners and coordinate across departments.
  • Raise PRF requisitions and review reinsurance payment requests; prepare journal vouchers.
  • Review facultative reinsurance receipts and post manual journals.
  • Review commission statement requirements for completeness and accuracy.
  • Manually generate SOAs to monitor premiums and claims recoveries; use Power Apps for new bills.
  • Handle ad hoc requests from business and clients as required.
  • Manage facultative run-off portfolio in Power Apps; reconcile and follow-up.
  • Review unallocated cash items to support accurate allocation.
  • Prepare and review write-off workfiles for approval by Head of GI and CFO.
  • Review SOPs and provide formal sign-off where required.
  • Prepare facultative RI workfiles for GI team meetings.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Specialist, Credit Control

In this role you will:
  • Account handling:Manage queries, recoveries and all related correspondence for the assigned portfolio, including engagement with multiple channel partners.
  • Regulatory reporting:Produce MAS debtor ageing reports and calculate provisions for bad and doubtful debts.
  • Operational support:Enable efficient business operations and client servicing by responding to operational queries accurately and within agreed timelines.
  • Stakeholder management:Maintain regular communication with channel partners and coordinate actions across relevant departments within HSBC Life.
  • Payment processing (reinsurance):Raise PRF requisitions and review payment requests, including preparation of manual reinsurance payment vouchers via journals for FinOps to post manually.
  • Receipt processing (facultative reinsurance):Review facultative reinsurance receipts and prepare manual journal vouchers for FinOps manual posting.
  • Commission oversight:Review commission statement requirements and ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Statement of Account (SOA) management:Manually generate SOAs to monitor outstanding premiums and claims recoveries, using Power Apps for new bills due from reinsurers and supplementing with static SOA data from the legacy system for follow-up.
  • Ad hoc support:Handle ad hoc requests from the business and clients as required.
  • Run-off portfolio management:Manage the facultative reinsurance run-off portfolio in Power Apps, including reconciliation, account management and follow-up activities.
  • Cash management:Review and investigate unallocated cash items to support accurate allocation and reconciliation.
  • Write-off governance:Prepare and review write-off workfiles for approval by the Head of GI and CFO.
  • Process control:Review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide formal sign-off where required.
  • Management reporting:Prepare the facultative RI workfile for discussion and review in meetings with the GI team.

To be successful you will need:

  • Experience & qualifications: Experience in credit control and/or finance/audit, supported by a university degree or equivalent.
  • Credit control & collections capability:Strong understanding of end-to-endcredit control processes, with apositive, change-oriented mindsetand a proven ability to delivereffective debt collection outcomes.
  • Channel management:Demonstrated experience managing multiple distribution channels, includingBrokers, Agencies, Agents, Financial Advisers (FA), Banca, andDirect.
  • Legacy and run-off expertise:Sound knowledge oflegacy transactions, enabling effective contribution torun-off clean-up activitiesand knowledge bridging across historical processes.
  • Escalation handling:Strongproblem-solving skills, with experience managing and resolvingescalationswithin theinsurance industry.
  • Adaptability & learning agility:Proactive learner who adapts quickly and performs well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Technical proficiency:Working knowledge ofMicrosoft Office, withadvanced Excel capabilityconsidered essential.
  • Ownership & organisation:Aself-starterwho takes initiative independently, with strongplanning and organisational skills.
  • Stakeholder communication:Effectiveinterpersonal and presentation skills, able to communicate confidently withsenior managementand bothinternal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical approach & eligibility: Strong analytical capability and structured problem-solving.
