Job summary

Boon Lay Garden Primary School is seeking a Pastoral Care professional to support student wellbeing, mentoring and engagement. You will help build resilience and positive attitudes toward school.

The role involves befriending higher-need students, conducting age-appropriate activities, and co-creating Lifeskills resources with teachers. Previous counselling or youth-work experience is essential.

Qualifications

• At least two years of relevant experience in counselling, pastoral care, youth work, student support or working with families with primary school-aged children and youth.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience planning or conducting mentoring, educational or student-engagement activities is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Befriend and mentor Higher Needs Students, providing guidance and individual support.
• Conduct targeted engagement and informal conversations to build resilience and a positive attitude toward learning.
• Lead simple, age-appropriate exercises and light physical activities for well-being.
• Co-create practical Lifeskills resources, including flashcards and activity kits.
• Accompany teachers on after-school learning journeys and supervise students; bus bookings excluded.
• Support students during homework-care sessions and report concerns to staff.
• Conduct school-directed home visits in coordination with staff to understand needs.

Job position: Pastoral Care

Salary range: 2000-2700

Name of Authority: Boon Lay GardenPrimary School

Contract Period: 1 March 2027 to 31December 2027.

Option period: 1 January 2028 to 31December 2028.

Personnel to be deployed atthe following hours:

• Mon .. Wednesday: 7:30am to 5:00pm, with lunch from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.
• Thursday and Friday: 7:30am to 12:00pm.
• Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays,gazetted public holidays and school holidays, unless directed by the school andmutually agreed.

Requirements
