Job summary

Damai Secondary School is seeking a Youth Engagement Officer to mentor students requiring emotional, social or well-being support. You will help plan activities at the Student Engagement Centre and assist with after-school programmes.

The role emphasizes building trust with students, coordinating with families and partners, and safeguarding student data and confidentiality. A background in youth work or related fields is preferred.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology or related fields preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience supporting youths, preferably in school or community settings.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to engage, mentor and support youths facing emotional or well-being challenges.

Responsibilities

• Engage, mentor and support students needing emotional, social or well-being help.

Name of Authority: Damai Secondary School

Contract Period: From 1 January 2027 to 31 October 2027.

Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:

• Monday to Friday: 7:30am - 5:00pm
• One weekday may require work until 5:30pm for after-school activities
• June School Holidays: Selected working days only, paid based on days worked
• No work on weekends, public holidays, November and December

Working hours may vary depending on the school's requirements.

Requirements:

• Relevant qualifications or certifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology or related fields are preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience working with or supporting youths, preferably in a school, social service or community setting.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to engage, befriend and mentor youths, especially those facing emotional, social or well-being challenges.
• Caring, empathetic and emotionally resilient, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
