Job summary

Graphic Packaging International in Lund, Sweden seeks a Team Leader for Packaging Development – Materials Development to guide a materials team in driving barrier laminate innovations. You will balance hands-on development with technical leadership in a collaborative setting.

The role emphasizes cross-functional work across Packaging Development, Purchasing, Production and Quality, with opportunities for leadership growth and international exposure.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Materials Engineering or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of polymeric materials.
  • Experience with packaging materials and laminates.
  • Excellent communication in Swedish and English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the Materials Team.
  • Develop and evaluate new barrier laminates through laboratory testing and pilot trials.
  • Verify materials in laboratory, production, and customer environments.
  • Support and contribute technical expertise in material development projects.
  • Collaborate with Packaging Development, Purchasing, Production, Quality, and external suppliers.
  • Participate in customer-focused development projects.
  • Drive innovation and contribute to sustainable packaging solutions.

We're now looking for a Team Leader Packaging Development – Materials Development to join our Packaging Development organization and play a key role in driving material innovation for the future.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced materials specialist who enjoys combining hands-on development work with team coordination and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the Materials Team
  • Develop and evaluate new barrier laminates through laboratory testing and pilot trials
  • Verify materials in laboratory, production, and customer environments
  • Support and contribute technical expertise in material development projects
  • Collaborate closely with Packaging Development, Purchasing, Production, Quality, and external suppliers
  • Participate in customer-focused development projects
  • Drive innovation and contribute to the development of competitive, sustainable packaging solutions.

This position does not include formal people management responsibility but offers excellent opportunities for leadership development and future growth.

We believe you bring:
  • Master's degree in Materials Engineering or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of polymeric materials
  • Experience working with packaging materials and laminates
  • Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English, both written and spoken
It is an advantage if you also have:
  • Experience with paper or carton-based materials
  • Knowledge of lamination, extrusion, or related manufacturing processes
  • Experience leading projects or coordinating cross-functional initiatives
  • Previous experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting colleagues in a technical environment
