Job summary

Tetra Pak in Lund invites a Senior Material Specialist to shape polymer choices for our products worldwide. You will join the central Supplier Management team and work closely with development, converting factories, and external suppliers.

You bring a university degree and at least 5 years in polymer science, with deep knowledge of polymer chemistry/physics/mechanics, plus modelling and simulation skills. English fluency and collaboration across borders are essential.

Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant field.
  • Expert knowledge in polymer chemistry, physics and/or mechanics.
  • Good understanding of modelling and simulation.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in polymer industry.
  • Experience with polyethylene/propene or food packaging materials is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work on polymer grades used in Tetra Pak factories worldwide.
  • Collaborate with development teams, converting factories and external suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain specifications; push for supplier quality improvements.
  • Perform problem solving and supplier visits as part of the role.

Job Summary

Do you want to bring your material skills to the next level?

An exciting opportunity opens within Base Materials Polymer Technology. We are looking for a Senior Material Specialist, that will have a key role in the choice of polymers used in Tetra Pak products, to support Tetra Pak ambitions.

Within Supplier Management, we secure supply of sustainable, safe, price‑competitive base materials at the required quality level for our factories and customers. We also support and contribute to base material innovation, addressing sustainability challenges.

The position is permanent, based in Lund and will include some travelling. You will be part of the Tetra Pak central Supplier Management organization and report to the Polymer Technology manager.

What you will do

You will be a part of a central competence team for materials, working on polymer grades used in Tetra Pak factories all over the world. In your role you will be responsible for several materials towards suppliers and collaborate with internal (development organisation and converting factories) as well as external stakeholders (e.g. suppliers) across different functional and international borders. Problem solving and supplier visits are a part of the role.

Focus areas:
  • Technical supplier management in relation to grade optimisation and streamlining. Develop and maintain specifications; understand impact on specification portfolio from evolving customer demands, ensure supplier compliance to specifications, and push for supplier quality improvement
  • Support projects with material characterisation and choices, link material characteristics to product performance to find suitable materials
  • Perform concept studies and knowledge building activities to optimise base material portfolio through subsystem testing, enabling modelling and supporting projects.
We believe you have

Your educational background is a relevant university degree. You have expert knowledge in polymer chemistry, physics and/or mechanics areas as well as good understanding of modelling and simulation. Minimum 5 years of work experience from polymer industry, preferably polyethene or polypropene, or food packaging material industry is expected.

You are analytical, structured, a good communicator and have excellent spoken and written English skills. You are an open person who actively shares knowledge with others while enjoying data analysis. You deal with ambiguity as well as continuous change in a good way.
