Job summary

Bolt is seeking a Principal Safety Engineer / Architect to lead safety integrity for our SAE Level 4 Autonomous Driving System in Europe. You will own end-to-end safety arguments—from hazard analysis to regulatory approval—for robotaxi deployments.

As the technical authority, you will drive safety case development, collaborate with engineering, product, fleet operations, and regulatory stakeholders to define what is safely possible and ensure it is achieved and maintained throughout live

Qualifications

Extensive experience (10-12+ years) in automotive, robotics, or aerospace safety-critical systems engineering with leadership in L4 autonomous driving.
Proven track record delivering auditable safety cases and supporting L4 homologation or type approval.
Deep understanding of autonomous driving system architecture and fail-operational safety concepts.
Familiarity with safety tooling like DOORS, Polarion, Codebeamer.

Responsibilities

Own and maintain the system-level safety case for L4 ADS across the robotaxi lifecycle.
Lead hazard analysis, define ODD, and shape safety architecture and verification strategies.
Drive regulatory approval pathways and compliance activities for type approval.
Collaborate with engineering, product, fleet operations, and regulatory stakeholders to define safe objectives.
