Job summary

Quandify is seeking a senior embedded engineer to own firmware across our water‑leak sensor platform. You will design and optimize low‑power firmware for battery-operated devices, work closely with hardware, firmware, and cloud teams, and drive production‑grade software from prototype to deployment.

You will bring 5+ years of C/C++ on constrained targets, experience with RTOS or bare metal, and strong debugging skills across schematics, scope, and SWD/JTAG.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional C (C++ welcome) on resource-constrained targets.
• Experience taking products from prototype to production.
• Deep low-power design with sleep modes and duty cycling.
• Exposure to certification work (CE, RED, EMC) or metrology requirements.
• Academic education in embedded systems or related field.

Responsibilities

• Own firmware across the product family from concept to production.
• Collaborate with hardware, cloud and app teams to ensure robust firmware.
• Hardware bring-up and debugging with schematics, oscilloscope and SWD/JTAG.
• Develop automated firmware tests and CI pipelines.
• Prototype, test, and optimize power budgets for battery-powered devices.

Who are you?

You're a senior embedded engineer who has shipped firmware that runs unattended for years on a battery, in someone's basement, with nobody around to press reset. You think in state machines, interrupt latency and microamps. You're equally at home defining a firmware architecture as you are on a scope chasing a timing bug that only shows up at low temperature.

You've taken products from prototype to production and you know the distance between the two is measured in edge cases, not features. You read schematics fluently and stand shoulder to shoulder with our hardware designer during bring‑up, but firmware is where you do your best work.

• Hardware bring‑up and debugging: schematics, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, SWD/JTAG, and the judgement to tell whether the fault sits in silicon, layout or your own code.
• Microcontroller ecosystems such as STM32, ESP32, TI MSP430 or similar, down to register level when the HAL gets in the way.
• Wireless connectivity shipped in production: BLE, LoRaWAN, Wi‑Fi or Thread, and protocols such as MQTT.
• A foundation in physics and mathematics that lets you reason about signals, sampling, noise and power budgets.
• Production mindset: OTA updates, firmware versioning, manufacturing test and traceability.
• Signal processing on sensor data: filtering, calibration, thresholding, ideally ultrasonic or flow measurement.
• Schematic capture and PCB layout. You won't own hardware design here, but it helps if you can spin your own prototype without waiting for anyone.
• Automated firmware testing, hardware‑in‑the‑loop rigs, and CI that makes releasing often feel comfortable.
• Scripting and tooling beyond embedded (Python).
• Exposure to certification work (CE, RED, EMC) or metrology requirements.

Academic education in embedded systems, electronics, mechatronics, robotics, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
