Telia Play is seeking a mid-level to senior Backend Software Engineer to join a focused backend team responsible for the metadata platform behind Telia Play’s viewing experience for nearly 2 million Nordic subscribers. You’ll own end-to-end solutions, work with AWS, and help integrate AI-assisted development into production.

Qualifications

• Solid backend experience with production systems.
• Experience with Kotlin or Java in production.
• Strong understanding of APIs, databases and distributed systems.
• Good secure development practices and testing.
• Fluent English and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve Telia Play's metadata platform from ingestion to APIs and near real-time distribution.
• Own end-to-end solutions: understand problem, shape approach, implement, test, deploy, and improve in production.
• Contribute to technical decisions balancing delivery, reliability, security, cost, and maintainability.
• Work across backend services and AWS infrastructure, incl. pipelines, runtimes, and observability; on-call optional.
• Build agentic AI capabilities for the platform and workflows; ensure reliability and security.
• Apply AI-assisted development with engineering judgment and ship responsibly.
