Job summary

Empiric in Stockholm, Sweden is seeking a Senior Android Developer / Technical Lead. You will own technical delivery while remaining hands-on with Android development, guiding a high-performing Agile team in a hybrid setup (2 days onsite per week).

You’ll work at the intersection of native Android, technical leadership and emerging AI technologies, exploring Generative AI, RAG and agentic AI to transform digital experiences.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Android development experience
• Strong hands-on Kotlin and Java experience
• Experience with MVVM architecture
• REST API and JSON integration experience
• CI/CD experience e.g. Jenkins

Responsibilities

• Design and develop native Android apps using Kotlin/Java.

• Explore AI-powered search, recommendations, assistants, and conversations.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments (Jenkins).

Are you a Senior Android Developer who wants to work on more than just mobile applications?

We’re looking for a Senior Android Developer / Technical Lead to join a high-performing Agile team in Stockholm, working at the intersection of native Android development, technical leadership and emerging AI technologies.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about building high-quality mobile products while exploring how Generative AI, RAG and Agentic AI can transform digital experiences.

What you’ll be working on

You’ll take ownership of technical delivery while remaining hands-on with Android development.

Your role will include:

• Designing and developing native Android applications using Kotlin and Java
• Working with MVVM architecture to build scalable, maintainable mobile solutions
• Integrating REST APIs, backend services and JSON-based data
• Supporting the adoption of Generative AI, RAG and Agentic AI within digital and mobile products
• Exploring AI-powered search, recommendations, assistants and conversational experiences
• Working with CI/CD and Jenkins to support automated build and deployment processes
• Building high-quality unit tests and ensuring production-grade reliability
• Working with application monitoring, logging and analytics, including Firebase Crashlytics and Adobe Analytics
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to remote/offshore developers
• Working closely with Product Owners and wider technology teams to turn business requirements into effective technical solutions
• AI experience is a major opportunity

What we're looking for

• 7+ years of professional Android development experience
• Strong hands-on Kotlin and Java experience
• Proven experience with MVVMStrong REST API and JSON integration experience
• Experience with Firebase Crashlytics and mobile application monitoring
• Experience with unit testing and production-quality applications
• Exposure to CI/CD, ideally Jenkins
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Experience mentoring or technically guiding distributed development teams
• A strong sense of ownership and the ability to drive technical delivery
