Job summary

emagine seeks a Senior Payroll Manager to lead the Swedish payroll function on-site in Stockholm, four days a week. You will deliver accurate end-to-end payroll, ensure compliance with Swedish laws, and collaborate with HR, Finance, IT and external providers to maintain high service quality.

The ideal candidate has extensive Swedish payroll knowledge, a track record of transforming processes, and strong stakeholder management. SAP HRM experience is highly relevant.

• Strong knowledge of Swedish payroll legislation, compliance, controls, reporting and the annual payroll cycle.

• Minimum technical skills
• Extensive hands‑on knowledge of Swedish end-to-end payroll within a large or complex organisation.
• Strong knowledge of Swedish payroll legislation, compliance, controls, reporting and the annual payroll cycle.
• Swedish language a must.
• Experience managing payroll for multiple employee groups and collective agreements.
• Strong understanding of payroll systems, integrations, data flows, troubleshooting and external provider management.
• Experience of payroll transformation, process development, digitalisation or system-related change.
• Experience with SAP and HRM-related payroll flows is highly relevant.
• Confidence using payroll data and reporting to identify risks, support decision-making and drive improvements.
• Leadership and experience level
• Senior Payroll Manager or equivalent leadership-level experience within a large and complex Swedish organisation.
• Proven experience leading experienced payroll specialists through operational complexity, change and improvement.
• Able to balance strategic direction with hands‑on operational judgement and decisive issue resolution.
• Demonstrated ability to stabilise payroll delivery while building clear structures, governance, processes and longer-term development plans.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and align payroll priorities across senior stakeholders and specialist functions.
• Structured and pragmatic leadership style, with the ability to prioritise business-critical activities and create clarity in a changing environment
