Job summary

DHL Group is seeking a temporary LCL Service Manager & Gateway Operations Team Manager to lead our LCL and Gateway Ocean Freight activities in Sweden. Based at the Gothenburg office, you will report to the Head of OCC DHL Global Forwarding Sweden and drive performance for a team of Gateway Operations Specialists.

You will manage consolidation, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with multiple service centers to improve profitability and service quality.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of logistics and freight forwarding with 3–5 years’ Ocean Freight (OFR) experience.
• Proven people leader with a track record of developing and engaging high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused mindset.
• Fluent in Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
• Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization abilities.
• Advanced MS Office Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop Gateway Operations Specialists, driving performance and profitability.
• Coordinate consolidation/deconsolidation in line with regulations and internal procedures.
• Maximize consolidation benefits by analyzing and managing cargo effectively.
• Ensure customer requirements are met and take corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers as required.
• Organize day-to-day work, plan resources, and monitor consolidation indicators.

LCL Service Manager & Gateway Operations Team Manager

We are looking for a temporary LCL Service Manager & Gateway Operations Team Manager to join our team at DHL Global Forwarding Sweden. In this strategic leadership role, you will report directly to our Head of OCC DHL Global Forwarding Sweden. You will be located at our OFR Gothenburg office.

Purpose of the Role:

As LCL Service Manager & Gateway Operations Team Manager, you will play a key leadership role with overall responsibility for the LCL & Gateway Ocean Freight business.

You will:

• Manage and drive performance of a team of Gateway Operations Specialists
• Coordinate consolidation/deconsolidation complying with regulations and internal procedures
• Ensure maximization of the consolidation benefits by effectively analyzing and managing cargo
• Ensure customer requirements are met and take corrective actions in case of deviations from customer requirements
• Interact with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers, if required

Key tasks:

• Organizes, splits and plans day-to-day work of Gateway Operations Specialist
• Identifies opportunities to consolidate many shipments into one lot
• Prepares, controls and distributes all required documents for consolidation complying with regulations and internal procedures
• Sets, communicates and monitors indicators of consolidation efficiency
• Identifies training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department
• Interacts with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers, if required
• Overall responsibility to drive and educate the team to continuously work with/for the profitability goal of the company and strive to increase profitability on all shipments

Who We Are Looking For:

• Strong knowledge of the logistics and freight forwarding industry, preferably with 3-5 years of experience, including a solid background in Ocean Freight (OFR).
• A proven people leader with a strong track record of developing, motivating, and engaging high-performing teams, while fostering collaboration and creating an inclusive and positive work environment.
• Strong organizational, administrative, planning, and prioritization skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with a strong customer-focused mindset and the ability to understand and proactively address customer needs in a professional manner.
• Capable of working independently, taking ownership and accountability, while also building strong relationships and collaborating successfully across teams and functions.
• Results-driven and commercially minded, with strong drive, initiative, analytical skills, and a proactive approach.
• Solid experience working in a process-oriented environment, with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and accountability
• Fluent in Swedish and English (comfortable both speaking and writing).
• Very good MS Office Excel skills
• Education level, relevant university degree or equivalent experience/qualification
