Job summary

LUOSSAVAARA-KIIRUNAVAARA AKTIEBOLAG in Kiruna is seeking a Rock Engineer to ensure safe, reliable mining operations and to support prefeasibility studies for future underground development. You will collaborate with mine planners, geologists, and rock mechanics specialists to provide geotechnical input for current operations and expansion projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering or geoscience discipline.
Experience working in underground mining environments.
Experience from underground caving operations or similar mining methods.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
Valid B driver's license.

Responsibilities

Develop and review mine layouts, ground support strategies, and geotechnical designs.
Collaborate on mine sequencing to ensure safe and reliable production.
Provide rock mechanics expertise to Life of Mine planning and future mine development studies.
Assess geotechnical risks, support mine design, and evaluate monitoring and instrumentation needs.
Deliver operational rock mechanics support through inspections, seismic monitoring, rehabilitation planning, and damage mapping.
