Job summary

LKAB in Kiruna is seeking a Rock Engineer to support safe mining operations and the long-term development of Kiruna Mine. You will collaborate with mine planners, geologists and rock mechanics specialists to provide geotechnical expertise for current operations and future expansion.

Responsibilities include developing mine layouts, ground support strategies, geotechnical designs, assessing geotechnical risks, and contributing to prefeasibility studies for mining below the current main haulage

Qualifications

• Experience in underground mining environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review mine layouts, ground support strategies, and geotechnical designs.
• Collaborate on mine sequencing to ensure safe and reliable production.
• Provide rock mechanics expertise to Life of Mine planning and future mine development studies.
• Assess geotechnical risks, support mine design, and evaluate monitoring and instrumentation needs.
• Deliver operational rock mechanics support through inspections, seismic monitoring, rehabilitation planning, and damage mapping.
