Job summary

Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag (LKAB) in Kiruna is seeking a Junior Research Engineer in ventilation to join our mining operations. You will work both practically and analytically on mine ventilation, improving safety, efficiency and sustainability of underground and surface environments.

Your role combines hands-on measurements with modelling and reporting, contributing to studies on airflow, heat, fire safety and environmental factors, and supporting continuous development of our

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mining engineering or another relevant field.
Experience in mine ventilation, particularly related to underground measurements.
Good knowledge of MS Office.
Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

Responsibilities

Perform ventilation measurements (airflow, pressure, temperature, humidity, contaminants) and report results.
Conduct ventilation modelling with Ventsim and analyse airflow distribution, heat and fire safety.
Contribute to studies and projects for continuous improvement of mine ventilation operations.
Collaborate with operations and development teams to ensure safe, efficient conditions underground and on the surface.
