Job summary

Cobolt AB, part of HÜBNER Photonics, is seeking a Laser Engineer to join the R&D team in Stockholm. You will work on developing laser products from design to testing, collaborating across electronics, software, mechanical engineering, and optics to deliver high-performance laser systems for life sciences, AR/VR and semiconductor manufacturing.

HÜBNER Photonics is expanding its R&D organization and is looking for a motivated Laser Engineer to join the R&D team at Cobolt AB in Stockholm, Sweden. As part of HÜBNER Photonics, Cobolt develops, manufactures, and supplies high-performance lasers and laser systems for demanding applications, including life sciences, AR/VR, quantum technologies, and semiconductor manufacturing. Our products are used by system suppliers and leading research institutes worldwide and are recognized for their exceptional quality and reliability.

About the role

As Laser Engineer, you will work closely with colleagues across electronics, software, mechanical engineering, and optics. You will play an important role in the development and continuous improvement of our laser products and systems. You will be involved throughout the development process, from initial design and prototyping to testing, verification, and product implementation. This is an opportunity to work hands‑on with advanced laser technology in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

We believe you are a structured and analytical engineer who enjoys hands‑on technical work and solving complex problems in a multidisciplinary environment. You communicate effectively, take initiative, and are comfortable taking responsibility throughout the product development process. We also expect you to have:

• A PhD or MSc in Physics, Optics, Photonics, or a related field, with a strong theoretical foundation.
• Strong knowledge of laser technology, physical optics, optoelectronics, and optomechanics.
• Experience with laboratory work, including building, testing, characterizing, and evaluating optical or laser‑based systems and prototypes.
• Experience in developing or improving technical products, including translating technical requirements into practical solutions.
• Excellent written and spoken Swedish and English skills.
