Job summary

Coherent in Järfälla, Sweden is seeking a Product Engineer to drive data-driven manufacturing improvements and optimize production yield. You will work across design, fabrication, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure robust processes and successful product transitions from development to volume production.

The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, data analysis, and hands-on use of statistical tools to monitor and improve process stability and product quality.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Physics, Nanotechnology, Electronics, Integrated Circuits, Materials Science, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a high-tech manufacturing engineering role.
  • Strong experience with data analysis and statistical methods.
  • Experience using Python for engineering/manufacturing applications.
  • Experience with Power BI, Grafana or similar visualization tools.
  • Hands-on experience with statistical software such as JMP, Minitab, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing and yield data to identify trends, optimize performance, and solve production challenges.
  • Drive root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for yield and reliability issues.
  • Monitor production metrics and process stability using statistical methods and data-driven approaches.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by validating manufacturing processes and workflows.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and product specifications.
  • Collaborate with quality and reliability teams to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, yield, and product quality.
  • Respond to technical customer questions and support manufacturing-related investigations when required.

What You'll Do

As a Product Engineer, you will work cross-functionally with design, fabrication, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure robust and efficient production processes.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Physics, Nanotechnology, Electronics, Integrated Circuits, Materials Science, or a related engineering field
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar engineering role within a high-tech manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience working with data analysis and statistical methods
  • Experience using Python for engineering or manufacturing applications

Meritorious Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is considered a strong advantage:

  • Semiconductor manufacturing or integrated photonics
  • Machine Learning applications in manufacturing or engineering
  • SQL and database querying
  • Statistical process control and advanced data analytics
  • Lean Six Sigma certification, preferably Black Belt
  • Yield engineering, process integration, or advanced manufacturing environments
