Do you want to help develop the ventilation solutions of the future mining industry? We are now looking for a Junior Research Engineer in ventilation to join our operations in Kiruna. In this role, you will work closely with both operations and development, focusing on creating a safe, efficient, and sustainable mining environment.

The sustainable transformation begins with us

We are facing our greatest challenge yet - ensuring that Sweden and Europe have what it takes to transform. So that we can live the lives we want, both today and tomorrow. In the same way that we strive to improve the future, we are committed to developing everyone who joins us on this journey, both personally and professionally.

Would you like to be part of laying the foundation for the way we live - and for the world around us?

Your role

In this role, you will work both practically and analytically with mine ventilation, contributing to a safe working environment both underground and on the surface. Your work will include conducting ventilation measurements such as airflow, pressure, temperature, humidity, and contaminants, followed by analysis and reporting of results. You will also work with ventilation modelling in Ventsim and take part in studies related to airflow distribution, heat, fire safety, and other environmental factors. In addition, you will participate in projects and contribute to the continuous development and improvement of our operations.

You are a structured and analytical person with a strong commitment to health and safety. You enjoy a role where you can combine hands-on work with analytical tasks, and you collaborate effectively with different teams and functions.

In addition, we expect you to have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mining engineering or another relevant field
  • Experience in mine ventilation, particularly related to underground measurements
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written

It is considered a plus if you also have:

  • Experience with data analysis tools and ventilation modelling
  • Experience in working and studying in multicultural settings
  • Knowledge of Swedish
What we offer

In addition to the general benefits - which you can find a bit further down - we can also offer you, who currently do not live in Sweden, the following:

  • Relocation support for you and your family.
  • Excellent conditions for settling in. We guide you through the official procedures necessary to settle in the country if you come from outside Sweden. We also provide temporary accommodation for a reasonable period and help you find a permanent place to live according to your personal needs.
  • LKAB helps you learn Swedish, a tool for a better understanding of Swedish culture.
