Job summary

ABB Robotics is seeking a Global Team Lead for Production Validation to scale our validation capabilities across sites in Västerås, Sweden, China and the USA. You will lead a team of validation engineers, drive hardware, software, and data initiatives, and partner with Production, R&D and project teams to deliver high-quality testing.

This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on technical work, focusing on process improvement, risk management, and fast adoption of innovative validation

Your Role And Responsibilities

Contribute to ABB Robotics' success with technology, software, product, and system development! As ABB Robotics prepares for its journey together with SoftBank as planned new owners and with a focus on the next generation of intelligent automation and Physical AI, you will play a key role in ensuring our production validation capabilities continue to scale, innovate, and deliver world-class quality. The Production Validation Team develops hardware, software, and data solutions that ensure quality through automated validation testing of every robot produced in our factories worldwide.

The Global Team Lead for Production Validation identifies and implements innovative solutions to relevant challenges while enabling the organization to bring cutting-edge technologies to market faster and more efficiently. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and driving validation activities across our sites in Sweden, China, and the USA, ensuring alignment, transparency, and execution of key priorities within the global validation organization. The role provides technical and operational leadership to a team of validation engineers located in Västerås while maintaining a global perspective and stakeholder network.

This is a role for someone who enjoys creating structure in a complex environment, building strong relationships across functions, and driving continuous improvements. You will lead a team of highly skilled specialists while acting as a trusted partner to Production, R&D, Project Management, and Leadership teams. We are looking for a leader who can provide confidence, clear direction, and technical credibility while fostering collaboration across a global organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and support a team of validation engineers, creating clarity, engagement, and a strong culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Lead and coordinate projects and strategic initiatives impacting Production Validation, including hardware/software implementations, system revisions, certifications, and validation methods, while proactively managing risks and dependencies.
• Own the sprint planning process for the validation team, establishing priorities, tracking actions and deliverables.
• Act as the primary interface between the validation team, Production, R&D, project teams, and management, building strong partnerships and ensuring alignment across stakeholders.
• Drive regular status meetings involving Production Validation stakeholders across our production sites, ensuring effective communication, alignment, and timely resolution of issues.
• Drive continuous improvement of validation processes, reporting, planning, and governance for both local and global activities, with a focus on increasing efficiency, reducing lead times, and enabling faster, high-quality testing.
• Support quality assurance with SPC activities, driving process stability and support data-based quality improvements and standardization across global manufacturing operations.
• Over time, contribute hands-on to validation and testing activities when needed, leveraging your technical expertise to support the team and help solve complex challenges.

Qualifications For The Role

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Several years of experience in Production Validation, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Test & Verification, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience leading complex technical initiatives in a global and cross-functional environment.
• Experience with project management, sprint planning, and execution tracking.
• Experience working with software releases, system revisions, certification processes, and validation of manufacturing or production systems is strong merit.
