Job summary

Nion is expanding its AI & Workflow Automation practice in Stockholm. The Forward Deployed Engineer will work inside client teams to turn AI concepts into measurable, secure operational solutions. You’ll scope processes, design AI-first workflows, and implement agents and integrations with a focus on delivering real business value.

The role requires 5+ years delivering automation/AI in real environments, strong stakeholder management, and fluency in Swedish and English. Some travel is possible.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in a delivery, consulting, or solutions role delivering automation/AI in real business environments.
• Strong process analysis and design skills with ability to map workflows and quantify value.
• Hands-on experience implementing LLM-based and agentic AI solutions (prompt engineering, RAG patterns, multi-step workflows).
• Practical command of AI tooling and automation platforms; comfortable API integrations.
• Experience driving adoption and handover with stakeholder management.
• Solid understanding of data protection, security and AI governance (GDPR, EU AI Act).
• Fluent in Swedish and English, written and spoken.

Our clients operate in industries such as telecom, fintech and insurance, and we help organisations simplify complex challenges and create real business value.

We're now expanding our AI & Workflow Automation practice and are looking for an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) for our Stockholm office. A Forward Deployed Engineer works inside the client organisation — not at arm's length. You sit with their teams, learn how the business actually runs, and turn AI from a proof-of-concept into a trusted, working part of daily operations. This is the role at the centre of AI and workflow automation at Nion: the person who takes an ambition to "use AI" and produces something that delivers measurable value. The hardest part of AI isn't the demo — it's the gap between a clever prototype and a secure process people actually use every day. Closing that gap is what this role is about.

What You'll Do

• Analysis — finding where AI and automation genuinely create value, and where they don't.
• Process definition — designing the new, AI-first way of working before any tool is deployed.
• Implementation — building, integrating and hardening agents, models and automations into the client's live environment.
• Adoption — making it stick through enablement, change and handover, so the value outlasts the engagement.

You'll own outcomes end-to-end: discovery and workflow mapping, solution design, hands-on implementation with AI tooling, and the change work that gets people using it. Throughout, you account for business value, AI sovereignty, AI spend, governance and compliance — GDPR and the EU AI Act built in, not bolted on.

Your profile

• Minimum 5 years in a delivery, consulting or solutions role where you've taken automation or AI solutions from discovery to production in real business environments
• Strong process analysis and design skills — mapping workflows, quantifying value, and redesigning how work gets done
• Hands-on experience implementing LLM-based and agentic solutions (prompt engineering, RAG patterns, multi-step/agent workflows, tool use)
• Practical command of modern AI tooling and automation platforms (examples below)
• Comfortable integrating AI into business systems via APIs and connectors
• Experience driving adoption — enablement, stakeholder management, training and handover
• Solid understanding of data protection, security and AI governance (GDPR, EU AI Act)
• Confident working embedded in client teams and translating between business and technical stakeholders
• Fluent in Swedish and English, written and spoken

This is not a deep software-engineering role. We're looking for someone who builds working solutions with AI tooling and integration — not someone writing large custom codebases from scratch. Comfort with light scripting (e.g. Python) to glue things together is expected, but the emphasis is on process, tooling and implementation.

Tools you'll work with

• Agent & orchestration frameworks: LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen or similar
• Workflow & automation platforms: n8n, Make, Power Automate, Zapier, or comparable iPaaS / low-code tools
• RAG & retrieval: vector databases and embedding models (working knowledge)
• Integration: REST APIs, webhooks, connectors to business systems
• Supporting: Python for scripting/glue, Git, basic containerisation (Docker)

Meritorious

• Anthropic Claude certification or equivalent AI platform credentials
• Prior consulting or client-facing delivery experience
• Domain experience in telecom, fintech or insurance
• Experience with LLM evaluation, testing and guardrails
• Familiarity with agile ways of working
