NestAI, a European AI lab focused on defence, seeks a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to lead technical delivery for partner initiatives in Stockholm or on a hybrid basis with weekly commuting to the Stockholm area.
The role spans AI, embedded computing, and full-stack engineering, requiring deep architectural capability and comfort with mission-critical environments. You will tailor platforms to real-world applications and travel up to 10% in Europe to client sites.
NestAI is a European AI lab for defence delivering the adaptive operating system for modern battlefield operations. We develop adaptive intelligence for unmanned and command systems: AI that continuously learns from operational data and adapts to changing conditions.
NestOS is our open, modular, and interoperable platform that enables this at scale and keeps capability evolution under sovereign European control. Founded in 2025 by Peter Sarlin, whose previous company Silo AI became Europe's largest AI acquisition, NestAI brings together over 150 engineers and scientists and partners with leading European defence forces and industry.
We are looking for a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to join our team full-time in Stockholm, or with the ability to commute to Stockholm metropolitan area around 3 days per week.
As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) specializing eiher in Artificial Intelligence, Embedded Systems or Full Stack Engineering, you manage the technical delivery and integration of NestAI’s autonomous systems for our partners. Embedded directly within key partner initiatives, FDE squads shorten the path from development to fielded capability, validating product features where assumptions are tested against operational reality.
This is not a standard implementation role; it is a high-stakes engineering position where you tailor our platforms to the complex, real-world environments of our most critical partners. We are looking for a senior builder who understands that in mission-critical domains, "good enough" doesn't exist. You will bring a high degree of architectural depth to solve problems where software meets hardware in the physical world.
At NestAI, you’ll build meaningful, real-world technology as part of a world-class team of engineers, scientists, and experienced professionals. You’ll work on systems where reliability genuinely matters, contribute to Europe’s security and resilience, and solve problems that demand depth, trust, and craftsmanship.
If you want to build with purpose — and with leading experts in the field — you’ve come to the right place.
Employment is subject to applicable security screening.
NestAI is an equal opportunity employer. We consider all applicants based on their skills, experience, and potential.
We are currently unable to provide visa sponsorship or international relocation support for this position. Candidates must already be based in Sweden or in the EU and have a valid work permit for this region at the time of application.
