Job description

Do you want to play a key role in financial steering and decision-making at the leading P&C insurer in the Nordics? Are you motivated by turning complex financial data into actionable insights while continuously improving processes and ways of working? If so, this could be your next challenge.

We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our Corporate Control team within Sampo Group Control. In this role, you will work at the center of If's financial reporting and planning processes, supporting both If and the Sampo Group with high-quality financial analysis, reporting and business insights. You will be part of a highly skilled team where collaboration, curiosity and continuous development are at the heart of everything we do.

About the role

As a Financial Controller in Corporate Control, you will work on some of the most important topics on the CFO agenda. You will combine financial reporting, planning and forecasting with analytical and strategic work, helping senior management understand financial performance and make informed business decisions.

You will have a broad mandate across the financial reporting cycle, from monthly and yearly closing activities to long-term planning and forecasting. A key part of the role is ensuring high-quality reporting and analyses for both If and the Sampo Group while driving continuous improvements in processes, tools and ways of working.

The role also offers significant opportunities to contribute to the future development of Finance. We are continuously exploring how digitalization, automation, AI and new analytical tools can improve efficiency, quality and decision support, and we are looking for someone who wants to be at the forefront of that journey.

Some of your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Lead and contribute to financial analysis and reporting of forecasts and plans.
  • Coordinate and develop the planning and forecasting processes.
  • Participate in monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes.
  • Analyse financial performance and communicate insights to senior stakeholders in a clear and pedagogical manner.
  • Support assessments related to IFRS and other financial reporting matters.
  • Drive continuous improvements of reporting processes, controls and governance.
  • Develop reporting and visualisation through tools such as Power BI and Power point.
  • Lead or participate in strategic and cross-functional projects.
  • Act as a trusted partner for the business and respond to ad hoc analyses and management requests.
We offer

In the same way that we place high demands on you as an employee, we also expect you to place high demands on us as an employer. Here are some of the benefits of working at If:

  • An inclusive work environment where everyone is welcome.
  • Career and development opportunities in the biggest insurance company in the Nordics.
  • Social activities, as well as a highly skilled professional environment.
  • Possibility of a hybrid workplace.
  • Health-promoting workplace with wellness allowance and various sports activities.
  • Great insurance benefits.
  • High pension savings.
About the team

The Corporate Control team is part of If's and Sampo’s CFO organisation and works closely with Business Areas and corporate functions across the Nordic organisation. You will join a team of experienced and engaged controllers who are passionate about finance, business understanding and continuous improvement. We believe that the best results are achieved through collaboration, knowledge sharing and supporting each other. While the pace can be high and deadlines demanding, we genuinely enjoy working together and celebrate successes as a team.

Our culture is built on trust, curiosity and accountability. We challenge each other, learn from each other and continuously look for better ways of working.
